Your Opportunity

We are seeking a senior commercial leader to support a portfolio of large, technically complex advanced manufacturing and technology facility projects. Based in Boise, this role will provide hands-on commercial leadership across multiple concurrent design assignments, partnering closely with program leadership, project managers, and the client to protect delivery commitments, manage commercial exposure, and support long-term client success. The position requires sound judgment, pace, and an ability to turn complex contractual and financial information into timely decisions.

Your Key Responsibilities

Program Commercial Leadership

  • Lead commercial management for a major advanced manufacturing client program and its related projects and work packages.
  • Establish clear commercial governance, decision rights, reporting cadence, and escalation protocols across a multi-project portfolio.
  • Advise program and project leadership on contract interpretation, commercial obligations, risk allocation, and client-facing commercial decisions.
  • Build productive working relationships with client commercial representatives, construction partners, internal leadership, and delivery teams.

Contracts, Change and Risk

  • Lead negotiation and administration of agreements, amendments, scope changes, and commercial terms in coordination with authorized leadership and legal teams.
  • Implement disciplined change identification, notification, documentation, pricing, and approval processes to minimize unbilled effort and disputes.
  • Anticipate and manage commercial risks associated with accelerated schedules, evolving design requirements, multiple interfaces, and construction-phase changes.
  • Support issue resolution and claims avoidance through timely documentation, fact-based negotiation, and proactive escalation.

Financial and Delivery Performance

  • Oversee fee forecasts, earned performance, profitability, cash flow, receivables, and commercial exposure across the program.
  • Partner with project managers and project controls to maintain reliable forecasts, staffing and fee projections, and early warning indicators.
  • Review commercial impacts of schedule compression, resource changes, rework, and out-of-scope requests before commitments are made.
  • Provide concise commercial dashboards and recommendations to program and business leadership.

Collaboration and Leadership

  • Partner with project delivery, discipline, finance, contracts, and risk leaders to align commercial strategy with execution realities.
  • Coach project teams on contract awareness, change discipline, documentation, and commercial accountability.
  • Support future work planning and client continuity while maintaining appropriate separation between commercial governance and day-to-day design management.

Capabilities and Credentials

  • Proven commercial leadership on large, complex, multi-year capital programs, ideally in semiconductor fabrication, advanced manufacturing, or similarly demanding technical facilities.
  • Deep understanding of architectural and engineering professional-services agreements, including scope and deliverable definitions, fee structures, contractual obligations, liability allocation, and flow-down requirements.
  • Demonstrated success negotiating commercial terms, amendments, and change orders with sophisticated owners and delivery partners while maintaining constructive long-term client relationships.
  • Strong command of project financial performance, including earned revenue, estimates at completion (EACs), cost-to-complete, labor and subconsultant budgets, margin, cash flow, billing, collections, and forecast accuracy.
  • Experience establishing disciplined change-control processes: identifying out-of-scope work early, documenting entitlement and impacts, evaluating fee and schedule adjustments, and securing timely approvals.
  • Ability to identify, quantify, communicate, and mitigate commercial risks associated with accelerated schedules, overlapping design and construction, evolving requirements, phased work packages, and multiple contracting interfaces.
  • Working knowledge of project controls, schedule and cost reporting, commercial dashboards, and the use of leading indicators to anticipate performance issues and support timely decisions.
  • Proven ability to support claims avoidance and dispute resolution through sound records, clear contractual interpretation, effective escalation, and pragmatic negotiation.
  • Ability to lead commercial discussions across client representatives, project managers, design managers, technical leaders, finance, legal, procurement, and external partners without relying on direct reporting authority.
  • Experience with major projects exceeding $1 billion in construction value is strongly preferred; experience managing commercial performance across several concurrent projects or work packages is particularly valuable.
  • Excellent executive communication, financial analysis, judgment, and negotiation skills; able to translate complex commercial issues into clear options, recommendations, and decisions.
  • Hands-on, proactive leadership style, with the resilience to operate in a fast-paced, confidential environment and the discipline to escalate emerging issues early.
  • Proficiency with enterprise project-financial systems, advanced Excel, and commercial reporting tools; familiarity with professional-services project management processes is preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license and good driving record required.

Education and Experience

A Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, or Business with a minimum of 10 years of related work experience; or an equivalent combination of education and related experience.
