Philanthropy in Ukraine is an organization that builds trust in Ukrainian civil society organizations (CSOs) through verification and open data. Our main product is a due diligence platform already used by Ukrainian organizations and international donors.

In parallel, we work to strengthen the capacity of NGOs and conduct research on the civil society sector in Ukraine.

For us, communications are not a set of separate tasks — they are an integral tool for developing our projects, achieving our goals, and maintaining a dialogue with our audiences.

Who we are looking for

We are looking for a Senior Communications Manager who will work across communications comprehensively — from developing the communications strategy to engaging directly with our audiences.

This is a broad role, but that does not mean you will be handling everything alone. We have a small communications team that includes an SMM Manager responsible for social media and email newsletters, as well as the design and visual content of our materials. We also have the opportunity to engage external contractors for copywriting, design, and external communications.

Our team is always open to discussion and support with specific tasks — for example, contributing to social media content or writing an expert opinion piece.

What will you be responsible for?

Strategic tasks

  • Developing and implementing Philanthropy in Ukraine’s communications strategy.
  • Developing and implementing communications plans for individual projects.
  • Setting and achieving operational communications goals.Analyzing communications performance and preparing reports.
  • Developing content plans for the organization’s social media and email newsletters.
  • Developing an external communications and organizational pitching plan.
  • Planning and managing the Philanthropy in Ukraine website blog.


Copywriting and editorial work

  • Writing and adapting content for different communications channels (social media, messaging platforms, email newsletters, personal emails, etc.).
  • Translating and adapting written materials into English.Writing letters, invitations, announcements, press releases, and other communications materials.
  • Writing email newsletters and adapting materials for this communications channel.
  • Conducting interviews and working with storytelling.
  • Working on long-form content, with the opportunity to write articles as needed and collaborate with writers.
  • Writing copy for presentations and printed materials, including presentations, brochures, and one-pagers.
  • Proofreading and editing written materials produced by the team.

External communications

  • Communicating with media outlets and journalists.
  • Pitching stories and materials and following up on them.
  • Analyzing the organization’s media presence.
  • Collecting and analyzing media mentions and publications by the organization.
  • Ensuring media coverage for the organization’s projects and programs.


Coordination

  • Coordinating the communications team: scheduling calls, aligning tasks, and planning activities.
  • Monitoring the implementation of the operational plan and monitoring and evaluation plan.
  • Coordinating with the team on activities and tasks relevant to the communications department and keeping the team informed about relevant activities and projects.

Additional responsibilities

  • Monitoring the nonprofit sector: identifying interesting articles, research, and events relevant to the team and organization.
  • Attending events, conferences, and meetings.


Other tasks related to the programs and projects implemented by Philanthropy in Ukraine may also arise.

What do we expect from the candidate?

  • At least 3 years of experience in communications, including work with written content, social media, email marketing, media, and partner communications.
  • English proficiency at B2 level or above.
  • Understanding of the Ukrainian nonprofit sector.Strong organizational skills and the ability to independently coordinate work and oversee the organization’s communications.
  • Strong copywriting and writing skills, including announcements, social media posts, articles, press releases, and interviews.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
