Are you passionate about networking, communication technologies, and solving complex technical challenges? Would you like to develop solutions that enable unmanned ground vehicles to be operated from anywhere in the world?

We are looking for a Senior Communications & Network Systems Engineer to join our Communications & Networks team at Milrem Robotics. In this role, you will help develop reliable long-range communication solutions for our unmanned ground vehicles (UGVs), combining IP networking, wireless communication, Linux infrastructure, and software development.

This is a hands-on engineering role where you will have the opportunity to shape new technical solutions, take ownership of complex challenges, and see your work tested on real unmanned ground vehicles.

Your main responsibilities
  • Design, develop, integrate, and test communication and network solutions for remote UGV operations.

  • Configure and troubleshoot IP networks, Linux servers, routers, switches, and wireless communication equipment.

  • Develop Python and/or Bash scripts and software tools for network configuration, monitoring, and automation.

  • Develop and integrate server-based communication solutions to support reliable long-range connectivity.

  • Investigate technical issues, analyse network performance, and validate solutions through real-world testing.

  • Collaborate with software, electrical, systems, and mechanical engineers to develop reliable end-to-end solutions.

  • Document technical solutions and support their deployment, including at customer sites when needed.

What we expect from you
  • 5+ years of relevant engineering experience and education in telecommunications, networking, computer engineering, software engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent knowledge gained through substantial practical experience.

  • Strong knowledge of IP networking, including TCP/IP, TCP/UDP, routing, switching, VLANs, DHCP, NAT, DNS, and basic network security.

  • Good working knowledge of Linux, including network configuration, routing, firewalling, services, and troubleshooting.

  • Understanding of wireless communication systems, server-based network architectures, and client-server communication.

  • Practical experience with Python and/or Bash scripting, with the ability to develop scripts independently.

  • Hands-on experience with networking equipment, including routers, switches, wireless devices, servers, and networked embedded systems.

  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, using tools such as Wireshark, tcpdump, ping, traceroute, iperf, or similar.

  • An independent and structured approach to system integration, testing, and documentation, combined with good English communication and collaboration skills.

What makes this opportunity exciting?

You will join a team developing new communication capabilities for remotely operated ground vehicles.

Working in a multidisciplinary engineering environment, you will have the freedom to explore technical approaches, experiment with new technologies, and make a direct impact on how our systems perform in demanding real-world conditions.

Location: Tallinn, Estonia. The role requires regular on-site presence for hands-on testing and collaboration. Occasional international travel may be required.

To apply, please send your application by November 8th at the latest. We review applications continuously and may contact qualified candidates for interviews before the official deadline.
