- Korrency is a cross-border remittance company. Through our mobile app, African diaspora customers in Canada, the UK and Europe send money home to Nigeria, Ghana, Kenya and other African countries quickly and safely. Korrency Exchange Inc. is registered with FINTRAC as a money services business and with the Bank of Canada as a payment service provider. Most of our team works remotely from Nigeria.
The role
You will be the most experienced analyst on a small compliance team. You will handle the complex cases and keep day-to-day compliance work running. You will own investigations from the first alert to the final decision, check the Compliance Analyst's work, and help keep our procedures, records and reporting in good order. You will report to our Canada-based Compliance Officer.
What you will do
• Lead complex investigations into unusual transaction patterns, fraud and chargeback cases, and high-risk customers, and record a decision on every case.
• Prepare STRs ready for filing, for the Compliance Officer's sign-off, and track every report against its deadline.
• Carry out enhanced due diligence on high-risk customers, including checks on source of funds and source of wealth.
• Run due diligence on payment partners, and respond to compliance requests from partners and banks.
• Review the Compliance Analyst's alert decisions, KYC reviews and screening outcomes, and give feedback.
• Keep our compliance procedures, the register of transaction monitoring rules and the compliance calendar up to date.
• Produce weekly and monthly compliance reports for management.
• Support audits, compliance effectiveness reviews and regulatory examinations by preparing evidence and records.
What we are looking for
• 4 to 6 years in AML, financial crime or compliance at a bank, fintech, payments or remittance company.
• Investigations you have led yourself, with case notes and STRs or SARs written to a standard regulators accept.
• Strong experience in customer risk assessment and enhanced due diligence.
• Solid sanctions and PEP screening experience, including resolving complex matches.
• Experience reviewing other analysts' work, or training and mentoring junior staff.
• Experience writing or updating compliance procedures.
• Excellent written English and sound, independent judgement.
• B.Sc. or HND in any discipline, with NYSC completed or exempted.
• Your own laptop, reliable internet and power backup for full-time remote work.
Nice to have
• Experience in cross-border payments or remittance, including due diligence on partners.
• CAMS, ICA, DCP (Compliance Institute of Nigeria) or a similar certification.
• Familiarity with Canadian (FINTRAC), UK or EU AML rules, as well as CBN and NFIU requirements.
• Experience handling chargebacks and payment disputes.
• Experience with tools such as Smile ID, Onfido, Sumsub, ComplyAdvantage or World-Check.
About the engagement
• Independent contractor engagement, full-time hours, fully remote.
• ₦500,000 to ₦600,000 per month, depending on experience, paid monthly in Naira. As a contractor, you invoice monthly and handle your own tax and pension.
• Regular overlap with Canadian (Toronto) business hours.
Korrency welcomes applications from people of every background.
