About HMA
HMA Mortgage is a retail independent mortgage bank licensed in 35 jurisdictions. Our Compliance team protects the company from regulatory, financial, and reputational loss while keeping originations moving. As a Senior Compliance Analyst, you will independently own critical regulatory reporting, serve as a go-to resource for the business on day-to-day compliance questions, and help us stay exam-ready. You will work directly with senior leadership and have real influence on how our compliance program grows.
What You'll Do
Regulatory Reporting
• Serve as the owner of the company's regulatory reporting — HMDA (LAR), the quarterly Mortgage Call Report, and NMLS state reporting — accountable for accuracy, the submission calendar, and the supporting documentation, running the reporting cycle independently with the SVP as oversight.
• Own HMDA data integrity end to end: scrub, validate, correct, and submit the annual LAR, and perform ongoing quarterly checks.
• Prepare and submit the quarterly Mortgage Call Report (MCR) and state-level reporting through NMLS, with accurate reconciliation to financial and loan data.
• Prepare and file annual state mortgage reports, as applicable by jurisdiction, including state-specific annual filings submitted through NMLS or directly to the state regulator, and track each state’s requirements and due dates.
Compliance Advisory and Monitoring
• Serve as the first point of contact for business-line questions on TRID, RESPA, TILA, ECOA/Reg B, GLBA, and UDAAP, escalating complex or high-risk issues to the SVP.
• Review marketing, advertising, and social media content for compliance before use.
• Conduct risk-based transactional testing and monitoring, document findings, and track remediation to closure.
• Perform root cause analysis on errors and recommend control improvements.
Licensing and Third-Party Oversight
• Own the third-party risk program end to end — maintain the vendor inventory and risk tiering, collect and review due diligence materials (financials, SOC reports, insurance, licensing, information security questionnaires , track remediation and periodic reviews through the vendor inventory, and escalating high-risk issues to the SVP.
• Support company and individual licensing: applications, renewals, amendments, and multi-state requirements.
• Monitor Marketing Services Agreements (MSAs) and similar referral arrangements for RESPA Section 8 compliance, including fair-market-value support, payment review, and periodic testing.
Audits and Examinations
• Coordinate regulator, investor, and internal audit requests: gather loan files and data, prepare responses, and track findings.
• Help draft exam responses and corrective action plans.
Compliance Program Support
• Monitor regulatory changes and flag business impact.
• Help maintain policies, procedures, and training content.
• Produce clear, concise reporting for leadership.
• Coordinate and oversee the work of third-party compliance resources (e.g., outsourced consultants or testing firms): communicate scope and deadlines, review deliverables for quality and completeness, track findings and remediation, and escalate performance or risk concerns to the SVP.
What You Bring
• 5+ years of mortgage compliance experience, including hands-on HMDA and MCR preparation.
• Working knowledge of TRID, RESPA, TILA, ECOA, GLBA, and UDAAP, as applied to real loan files.
• Experience supporting regulatory or investor exams and audits.
• Strong analytical skills and comfort with large data sets (advanced Excel required; HMDA software and LOS experience a plus).
• Clear, concise writing, and the judgment to explain risk in business terms.
• Self-starter who thrives in a small team and can manage multiple deadlines without close supervision.
• Experience working with outside consultants or service providers and holding them to deliverables and timelines (preferred).
• Experience with third-party/vendor risk management, including due diligence reviews and risk assessments (preferred).
• Bachelor's degree preferred, or equivalent experience.
Preferred: CRCM or similar certification; experience with multi-state licensing and NMLS; experience in a retail origination environment.
HMA Core Values in This Role
These values are the behavioral standard for the role, assessed alongside results. Results delivered in a way that violates them do not count as results.
• Integrity — a compliance position is defensible on the regulation and the record, not on who is asking for the answer. Pressure never changes what the rule requires.
• Grit — the hard regulatory question gets the full analysis, not a convenient read. Rule changes, new reporting cycles, and exam pressure are absorbed without a drop in quality.
• Accountability — regulatory accuracy belongs to this seat. When a finding or error lands, this role arrives with the cause, the correction, and the control that prevents a repeat.
• Service — the business lines, Sales, and leadership are all customers. The test is whether the next person can act on the guidance without chasing it, and move the loan forward compliantly.
• Humility — root cause is pursued even when it points at our own process. Getting the control right matters more than being right about who caused the gap.
• Speed of Response — compliance questions and escalations receive a response inside a defined window. The acknowledgment is owed immediately; the answer is owed on a clock.
Equal Opportunity
HMA Mortgage is an equal opportunity employer. This job description describes the general nature of the role and is not an exhaustive list of all responsibilities, duties, or skills required.
