About the role
As Senior Compliance Officer, you will provide senior professional compliance expertise to help Tokio Marine Europe S.A. identify, understand and meet regulatory and compliance obligations across its Luxembourg head office and European branches. You will deliver independent advice and constructive challenge across compliance advisory, governance, regulatory horizon scanning and risk-based monitoring. Operating with a high degree of autonomy, you will own assigned jurisdictions and workstreams, lead cross-functional initiatives and manage one Compliance Officer while supporting a proactive compliance culture.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide timely, pragmatic and independent advice across compliance topics including insurance distribution, complaints, conflicts of interest, whistleblowing, outsourcing and financial crime, escalating material concerns where appropriate.
- Act as an accessible and credible Compliance partner, combining constructive business engagement with effective independent challenge.
- Design, coordinate and deliver targeted training, communications and awareness initiatives with business and control functions.
- Develop, review and maintain compliance policies, standards, procedures and methodologies, and contribute to the annual Compliance Risk Assessment and Compliance Plan.
- Prepare concise, accurate and decision-useful reporting for senior management, committees, the Board, regulators and parent-company stakeholders.
- Own or coordinate compliance coverage for at least one of Italy, Germany or France, according to language capability, experience and business need, while contributing to cross-border matters.
- Monitor local, EU and other relevant regulatory developments and translate them into impact assessments, implementation roadmaps, actions and business communications.
- Coordinate with TME Legal and UK and Group Compliance teams, and contribute to regulatory responses, supervisory interactions, information requests and external due-diligence or KYC questionnaires.
- Contribute to the design and delivery of the risk-based Compliance Monitoring Programme, leading thematic reviews, targeted testing and remediation follow-up within areas of expertise.
- Manage and develop one Compliance Officer by setting priorities, providing direction and feedback, allocating work effectively and supporting professional development.
Skills and Competencies Required
- At least 8 years of relevant compliance or regulatory-risk experience in the European insurance sector, preferably within non-life or specialty insurance.
- Professional proficiency in at least one of Italian, French or German
- Fluent English, with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong understanding of EU insurance regulation and the ability to interpret and operationalise local and EU requirements.
- Experience taking autonomous ownership of a jurisdiction, regulatory topic, programme or material workstream.
- Experience working with senior stakeholders in an international environment, including UK interactions.
- Experience managing, coaching or developing a compliance professional, including setting priorities, providing direction and feedback, and reviewing development objectives.
- Experience leading cross-functional or cross-jurisdiction regulatory initiatives and representing Compliance in relevant forums.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, drafting and reporting skills, with the ability to produce clear and decision-useful written output.
Skills and Competencies Preferred
- Experience of regulatory change implementation, Board or committee reporting, and developing or delivering risk-based compliance monitoring.
- Experience of the Luxembourg insurance market and applicable CAA requirements.
- Experience interacting with European insurance supervisors such as the CAA, IVASS, BaFin or ACPR.
About the team
You will join TME’s Compliance team at an exciting stage in its development. We are building a more visible, proactive and forward-looking Compliance function that combines strong technical expertise with practical business engagement and independent challenge.
