About
We are an Equal Opportunity employer. All decisions, such as hiring, promotion, etc., are made without bias. We welcome everyone, regardless of race, gender, background, or identity. Feel free to share your pronouns in your application (e.g. she/her, he/him, they/them).
At OpenProject, we build open source project management and collaboration software used by organisations around the world. We believe great software should empower people to organise work in a way that supports autonomy, accountability, and collaboration across boundaries. Our users rely on our product to collaborate in agile product teams delivering software, plan infrastructure projects, organise research programs, and coordinate complex work across multiple teams and projects within enterprises. Our users build rockets, cars, or software using OpenProject, and we are proud to empower teams worldwide to achieve great things together.
As Consultant Training & Adoption, you’ll be the person who makes OpenProject stick. You’ll lead and professionalise our training and consulting programme, guide major private and public organisations from their first Proof of Concept to confident, organisation-wide adoption, and engage on eye level with everyone from new users to senior executives.
Your mission
In this role, you will:
- Lead and professionalise our training and consulting programme – from Getting started and System admin trainings to custom train-the-trainer formats, certifications and consulting engagements.
- Deliver engaging trainings, workshops and consulting sessions – remotely and in person, on-site at client premises and in our office – for audiences ranging from end users and system administrators to project leads and senior management.
- Guide and support Proof of Concepts for major corporations and public sector organisations in Europe and beyond, with a particular focus on the DACH region – translating requirements into a convincing OpenProject setup and a clear path to rollout.
- Position OpenProject credibly as an alternative to established corporate tools such as Jira, and advise senior executives and decision-makers on rollout, change management and project management best practices.
- Onboard new clients and help existing clients get the most out of OpenProject, so that it becomes an integral part of how they work.
- Keep a close eye on customer adoption, recognise risks early and act proactively to prevent churn and secure long-term customer success.
- Ensure our training material is always up to date and continuously improve our training concepts to meet evolving customer requirements.
- Streamline training concepts and workflows – from scoping and preparation to delivery and follow-up – so that we can scale high-quality training as demand grows.
- Act as the voice of the customer: collect user and product feedback and communicate it clearly to our Product, Engineering, Sales and Marketing teams.
- Collaborate closely with Account Management, Customer Support, our migration and consulting team, and our partners to ensure a seamless customer journey.
- Bring in your own approaches, insights, and lessons learned from previous roles and experiences.
What you'll bring
We’re looking for someone who has:
- Several years of experience in consulting and training, ideally with corporate and/or public sector clients – including leading workshops and introducing new software or processes in complex organisations
- Fluency in German (native level) and English (our business language). French or Spanish is a plus, but not required
- Outstanding communication, presentation and facilitation skills: you make complex topics easy to understand and engage a room of new users just as convincingly as a group of senior executives.
- A professional, confident presence and excellent people skills – clients trust you quickly and enjoy working with you.
- A talent for teaching: you know how adults learn and design trainings that are practical, memorable and motivating.
- A solid understanding of project management methods (classic, agile and hybrid) and of how large organisations work.
- Excellent time management and prioritisation skills, and the ability to stay calm and focused when things get busy – whether it’s a high-stakes executive workshop, a tight PoC timeline or several clients needing you at once.
- A structured, hands-on mindset and the drive to build and improve processes, not just follow them.
- Experience with Jira (Data Center) is preferred; experience with OpenProject is a strong plus.
- Willingness to travel regularly for on-site trainings and workshops, mainly within the DACH region.
- Passion for Open Source and digital sovereignty.
What awaits you
At OpenProject, you can expect:
- A role with real ownership and impact: you’ll shape how OpenProject is introduced at some of Europe’s largest private and public organisations.
- The best of both worlds: the creative challenges and learning opportunities of a start-up, combined with the stability of a well-established company and a team of dedicated professionals.
- The opportunity to contribute to a high-visibility open source project with strong values around transparency and collaboration.
- A culture of continuous learning, feedback, and shared ownership.
- Our annual Passion Time off-site, where cross-functional teams work on self-chosen initiatives with real business impact.
- Employee benefits such as job bikes and paid child care.
- Exposure to a diverse and inspiring user base, including NGOs, open source initiatives, public institutions, and global enterprises.
