You will play a critical role within our global privacy and cybersecurity legal team, and work across multiple global teams and regions providing support and advice to Airbnb’s business. We’re looking for a highly adaptable and collaborative person who can handle ambiguity and rapidly shifting priorities with flexibility, patience, and poise.
A Typical Day:

- Advises on the intersection of privacy law and payments and insurance obligations globally, including PCI-DSS adjacencies, state and national financial privacy laws in the US, and international payment data requirements, as well as on the regulatory intersection of insurance laws and privacy laws across key markets, where insurance regulation introduces specific obligations, working in close coordination with Payments Legal, Payments Compliance, Insurance Legal, and regional Counsels where required.
- Advises Commercial Legal in negotiating commercial contracts with payment processors and insurance providers.
- Acts as a key cross-functional influencer with Payments and Insurance Legal and Privacy Management teams to identify and articulate privacy legal risks, requirements, and tradeoffs early in the product lifecycle.
- Partners closely with the Lead Counsel, Product Privacy, Privacy Managers, Payments and Insurance Legal, compliance teams and regional product privacy counsels to align privacy guidance across geographies, ensuring consistent standards and localized compliance.
- Monitors and advises on privacy legal and regulatory requirements related to data privacy requirements and supports associated compliance strategies for payments and insurance products and processing, including with respect to U.S. and other global privacy laws.
- Provides advice and counsel to the Privacy Operations team on the implementation of global privacy compliance requirements related to data governance and data lifecycle management projects.
Your Expertise:
- 8+ years of privacy law experience with depth in financial data privacy, payments, or insurance-adjacent regulatory contexts.
- Demonstrated experience advising on global payments or financial services data practices in a B2C or platform context.
- Experience working across legal, compliance, and commercial functions in a matrixed organization.
Technical / Domain Knowledge:
- Strong understanding of the intersection of privacy law and financial data regulation, including CCPA, GLBA, PCI-DSS adjacencies, and equivalent international frameworks.
- Familiarity with insurance data regulatory requirements and how they intersect with global privacy law across key markets.
- Ability to advise on data minimization, legal basis, and transparency requirements for complex financial and insurance product features.
Leadership & Communication:
- Ability to influence across product, payments, legal, and compliance stakeholders without formal authority.
