📊 Do you enjoy turning complex financial data into sound credit decisions and want your judgement to shape how a business grows?
As a Senior Credit Risk Analyst at Ecommpay, you'll take ownership of how we assess, measure and price merchant and counterparty risk across our global portfolio. You'll cover merchant credit risk across all industry types, each with its own risk profile, including Deferred Delivery Merchants, where we settle funds before the service is delivered, and make sure every exposure is understood, provisioned, mitigated and priced correctly.
This is a hands-on role with real ownership. You'll calculate IFRS 9 expected credit losses, build risk-based pricing, write credit memos for the Credit Committee and develop the existing credit framework so it supports our growth. Sitting within Finance, you'll work closely with Risk, Pricing, Sales and senior management, with your analysis directly informing board reporting and annual planning.
What you will do:
Portfolio and exposure analysis
Assess and monitor credit risk across the merchant portfolio, including Deferred Delivery Merchants (DDM) and other higher-risk industry types, quantify merchant exposure and define appropriate reserves, security deposits and settlement terms
Conduct merchant credit assessments covering financial statements, cash flow, liquidity, ownership structures, trading history, chargebacks and refunds
Monitor concentration and counterparty risks across merchants, sectors, jurisdictions and settlement banks, escalating breaches of agreed limits
IFRS 9 and provisioning
Calculate IFRS 9 expected credit losses for merchant receivables, settlement advances and other in-scope financial assets
Build and maintain PD, LGD and EAD inputs, apply staging and significant-increase-in-credit-risk criteria, and document forward-looking macroeconomic scenarios and weightings
Maintain the provision matrix and prepare individual assessments for material or impaired counterparties
Provide ECL disclosure inputs and model documentation for Finance and external audit, and defend the methodology during audit reviews
Risk-based pricing
Develop and apply risk-based pricing: translate merchant risk grades into pricing, reserve levels, settlement terms and collateral requirements, so that risk is priced in and not absorbed
Partner with Pricing, Sales and Account Management to reprice existing merchants whose risk profile no longer matches their commercial terms
Analyse portfolio profitability on a risk-adjusted basis and identify merchants and segments where margin doesn't cover the exposure, recommending pricing and mitigation outcomes
Framework, policy and governance
Enhance and maintain the credit risk policy, scoring model, approval matrix and delegated authority levels
Prepare credit memos and limit recommendations, present them to the Credit Committee and document the rationale for every decision
Design a tiered assessment workflow for standard cases, enhanced reviews and high-risk exceptions
Deliver monthly portfolio and exposure reporting to management and the board risk committee
Planning cycle
Own the risk assumptions in the annual revenue baseline, using probability-weighted expected losses from client attrition and traffic loss that are built on historical data, not guesswork
Provide well-supported assumptions to Finance, with clear commentary on what is changing, why, on what data, and which risks are already reflected
Provide regular reviews of exposure and loss experience
What we are looking for:
3+ years of experience in credit risk, counterparty risk or credit analysis, ideally in banking or merchant acquiring (payments, fintech, trade finance or credit insurance also considered)
Hands-on IFRS 9 ECL experience, meaning you've done the calculations, staging and PD/LGD/EAD inputs and defended the methodology to auditors
Strong financial statement analysis skills: you can read a set of accounts, build a cash flow view and form your own view on a counterparty's solvency
Experience with risk-based pricing, or a proven ability to link risk grading to commercial terms, reserves and collateral
Advanced Excel skills for portfolio analysis and comfort working with incomplete or inconsistently classified transaction data
Excellent knowledge of English
It would be an advantage if you have experience with:
Deferred delivery, pre-paid or future-service merchants exposure, such as travel, airlines, ticketing, events or subscriptions
Understanding of card scheme rules on chargebacks, reserves and merchant underwriting
Developing and scaling a credit function or framework
Familiarity with bank counterparty and jurisdiction risk assessment
What we offer:
🚀 Make your mark on a fast-growing fintech industry becoming part of 500+ team with 4 offices worldwide
🎓 Enhance your skills with our own Academy and receive compensation for additional trainings and courses to foster your growth
💰 Earn performance-based bonuses tied to achieved KPIs

🏠 Enjoy the flexibility of a hybrid work model
🏥 Receive generous health insurance including dental, 5 Health Leave days per year and access to a private gym in the office
Salary Range: 3000-4500 EUR Gross/month
