Senior Cyber Security Architect

Contract for 12 month plus 2 x 12 month extensions | Almost Fully remote with offices in Brisbane, Sydney or Canberra

Lime Recruitment is currently working with a federal health agency to recruit a Senior Cyber Security Architect. In this role, you will serve as the Agency’s principal design authority for cyber security strategy and architecture, defining and governing target state cyber security architecture across corporate environments and national digital health infrastructure to ensure alignment with whole-of-government security frameworks.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain, and champion the cyber security strategy and roadmap, recommending strategic directions across the national digital health ecosystem.
• Act as the Agency’s design authority for cyber security architecture, defining target state architecture, principles, patterns, and standards for ICT systems.
• Provide authoritative advice to Branch, Division, and Agency executives on complex, sensitive, and emerging cyber security matters.
• Lead horizon scanning and structured assessments of emerging technologies and threat developments (AI, post-quantum cryptography, cloud delivery models) and translate findings into policy and architectural direction.
• Ensure alignment with federal government security frameworks including ISM, PSPF, Essential Eight, and whole-of-government digital security directions.
• Engage with risk at a strategic level by leading threat and risk assessments and recommending appropriate security controls and treatments.
• Provide technical leadership and mentoring to practitioners while collaborating with enterprise architects, product owners, and delivery teams to embed security from design through implementation.

About You

• Demonstrated experience providing cyber security assurance and advice through the planning and development lifecycle of cloud-based government systems.
• Strong expertise in applying cyber security architectural standards, reference models, and design patterns for modern enterprise IT systems.
• Deep understanding of federal government security frameworks including the Information Security Manual (ISM), Protective Security Policy Framework (PSPF), and Essential Eight Maturity Model.
• Proven capability in leading threat assessments for emerging technologies (AI, post-quantum cryptography, sovereign/cloud models) and evaluating applicable security controls.
• Excellent stakeholder management skills with demonstrated experience negotiating architectural positions and collaborating across multi-disciplinary teams.
• Eligibility Requirements: Must be an Australian Citizen, pass a Police Check, and be able to obtain and maintain a government security clearance.
