Show job description
Every order, shipment, inventory update, and invoice that moves between Backyard Products and our retail trading partners travels through the integrations this role owns. We are looking for a Senior D365 EDI Integration Analyst to keep that flow reliable and make it better: connecting Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations, TrueCommerce, our retail partners, and the business systems around them. You will join us at an exciting moment, with a major D365 rollout underway, and your work will be central to cutover, stabilization, and the improvements that follow.
This is a hands-on senior role. You will investigate issues yourself, follow them to root cause, implement the fix, and document what you learned. You will also inherit a set of Python-based utilities our team built to automate recurring EDI work, and we will look to you to understand, maintain, and extend them. We are enthusiastic adopters of modern tools here, including AI-assisted development and analysis: we care less about whether you have used every tool on our list and more about whether you are the kind of person who can figure anything out with the resources available today.
You will work alongside experienced EDI and business-systems colleagues, and part of the senior responsibility here is making knowledge shared rather than siloed: clear documentation, trained backups, and runbooks that let the whole team support what you build.

What You Will Do

  • D365 integration: Own integrations into and out of D365 F&O across sales order processing, inventory, warehouse and fulfillment, shipping, and invoicing. Translate business requirements into field mappings, transformation rules, and validation logic that reflect D365 processes and master data.
  • D365 integration: Troubleshoot data entity, import/export, batch-processing, and validation errors; determine whether failures originate in source data, middleware, configuration, or custom code, and drive the correction. Validate cross-references, units of measure, pricing, addresses, sites, warehouses, and legal-entity context so transactions land right the first time.
  • TrueCommerce & EDI: Serve as the internal owner for TrueCommerce operations and D365 connectivity: mapping changes, trading partner onboarding from requirements through certification and production, and vendor follow-through. Support core ANSI X12 transactions (850, 855, 856, 810, plus 846, 860, and 997/999 as partners require).
  • TrueCommerce & EDI: Resolve rejected transactions, missing acknowledgments, ASN and label discrepancies, and missing or duplicate orders. Reconcile partner and integration records against D365 to reduce delays and integration-related chargebacks.
  • Partner compliance & relationships: Own the business side of our trading partner connections, not just the maps: keep us compliant with each partner’s routing guides and EDI requirements as they evolve, monitor partner scorecards and chargeback activity, support chargeback prevention and disputes with transaction evidence, and continuously improve the processes between us and each partner. Manage day-to-day vendor and partner relationships, escalations, and requirement changes with professionalism.
  • APIs & improvement: Configure, test, and troubleshoot REST API and file-based integrations (JSON, XML, OData, authentication, Postman and similar tools). Build monitoring, alerting, reconciliation, controlled retries, and duplicate prevention so problems surface before the business feels them.
  • Automation & tooling: Maintain and extend our Python-based integration utilities and automations; bring them under solid documentation and version control, and improve them where you see the opportunity. AI-assisted development is welcome here.
  • Delivery: Lead integration testing for D365 rollouts, updates, and enhancements, including complete order-to-invoice scenarios, cutover support, and post-go-live stabilization. Support coexistence with our legacy ERP during the transition period.
  • Ownership & documentation: Own incidents through root-cause analysis and permanent correction, prioritized by customer, fulfillment, and financial impact. Maintain mapping specifications, test evidence, and runbooks; train backup resources; track failed and aging transactions and use those measures to prioritize improvements.

Who Thrives in This Role

We care more about how you work than where you learned. People who enjoy this role tend to:
  • Dig into problems personally, from raw X12 segments to D365 batch logs, and take satisfaction in finding the actual root cause rather than clearing the symptom.
  • Move comfortably between business language and technical detail, asking good questions about the process behind a transaction before changing a map.
  • Treat documentation and knowledge-sharing as part of the job well done, so the team is stronger for everything they touch.
  • Use modern tools, including scripting, automation, and AI, to investigate faster and build smarter, paired with the judgment to verify what the tools produce.
  • Communicate proactively with business teams, vendors, and trading partners, so no one wonders where an issue stands.

What We Are Looking For

  • 5+ years in EDI, ERP integration, or business systems integration, with demonstrated hands-on experience integrating with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance and/or Supply Chain Management across sales orders, inventory, fulfillment, and invoicing.
  • Practical knowledge of D365 data entities, the Data Management Framework (DMF), OData, and batch processing, with the ability to investigate failures inside D365.
  • Experience configuring, mapping, testing, and troubleshooting TrueCommerce, Cleo, or a comparable enterprise EDI platform, including complete retail order, shipment, and invoice flows.
  • Working experience with REST APIs, JSON/XML, and authentication; familiarity with EDI connectivity methods such as AS2, SFTP, and VAN services.
  • Ability to read, debug, and modify Python scripts (our automation utilities are Python-based); comfort using SQL and Excel against integration or staging data to investigate exceptions and reconcile transactions.
  • A record of independently delivering integration changes and resolving production issues, with clear communication, documentation, and follow-through.
  • Comfort owning trading partner and vendor relationships end to end: understanding how the process is supposed to operate on both sides, keeping us compliant as partner requirements change, and working improvement conversations, not only technical tickets.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent relevant experience.

Nice to Have

  • Direct TrueCommerce experience, particularly integrated with D365 Finance and Supply Chain Management.
  • Cleo Integration Cloud (mapping, orchestration, partner connectivity, APIs); Azure Logic Apps, Azure Functions, Service Bus, or D365 business events.
  • Manufacturing, distribution, or consumer-products experience supporting major retailers; familiarity with retail compliance, EDIFACT, or integrations involving Shopify, Salesforce, shipping systems, or third-party logistics providers.

What Success Looks Like

Reliable D365 transaction processing, fewer recurring exceptions and manual interventions, and timely partner onboarding. Within the first 90 days, we will work together toward documenting critical integration flows, establishing a baseline for transaction health, taking confident ownership of our Python tooling, and delivering agreed priority improvements to recurring failures or manual processes.

Position Details

  • Hybrid role based at our Monroe, MI headquarters, with regular onsite presence for collaboration with our Michigan teams and our distribution operations.
  • Occasional schedule flexibility around go-live events, cutover windows, and trading partner deadlines.
