For a demanding transformation project, we are looking for an experienced professional in the fields of Data Engineering, Business Intelligence, and Microsoft Fabric for one of the largest technology companies globally. The core focus is on modernizing an established legacy data and BI landscape into a scalable, future-proof cloud platform.

You combine sound technical expertise with a structured approach to analysis, migration, data modeling, and quality assurance. You will work independently on clearly defined work packages and deliver traceable, documented results.

Your Responsibilities

• Analysis of existing databases, data structures, views, stored procedures, and transformation logic.
• Evaluation of existing BI applications, data models, and load scripts, including dependencies, risks, and potentials for standardization and optimization.
• Development of a viable target and migration architecture based on Microsoft Fabric and Power BI.
• Conception and implementation of data integration and transformation processes according to modern ELT/data engineering principles.
• Development of robust, incremental, and restartable data pipelines using SQL, Python, and PySpark – including historization, logging, monitoring, and error handling.
• Design of dimensional and semantic data models as well as implementation of sophisticated calculation logic in DAX.
• Development and optimization of Power BI reports and dashboards, taking usability, data quality, and performance into account.
• Validation of migrated data, KPIs, and reports based on defined references and test cases.
• Creation of high-quality architecture, data flow, transformation, operational, and handover documentation in German.
• Deployment of suitable AI-powered tools to support analysis, development, documentation, and quality assurance in compliance with established governance and security guidelines.

Your Profile

Required Qualifications:

• At least 5 years of practical experience in the design and implementation of productive data and BI solutions using Microsoft Fabric.
• At least 5 years of experience with Microsoft Power BI, particularly with semantic models, DAX, reporting, and dashboard development.
• At least 5 years of experience in developing ETL/ELT processes using SQL and Python.
• At least 3 years of experience with AI-supported methods or tools in software or data development projects.
• Very good written and oral communication skills in German; project documentation is produced entirely in German.

Nice to Have:

• Experience in migrating complex, legacy BI landscapes to Microsoft Fabric and Power BI.
• Practical experience in analyzing and replacing Qlik solutions, particularly data models, load scripts, and application architectures.
• Proven experience in performance optimization of Power BI models, DAX calculations, and data processing workflows.
• Very good knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server, T-SQL, database structures, views, and stored procedures.
• Experience with version control, automated technical testing, and transparent documentation of decisions, risks, and deviations.

• Collaboration in a hybrid project environment with predominantly remote service delivery possible within Germany.
• Occasional on-site appointments for professionally necessary workshops, reviews, or handovers. (20%)
• Autonomous processing of clearly defined deliverables and work packages.
• Start date and duration upon agreement.
