Reporting into our Head of Data, you'll work within a cross-functional product stream, collaborating with product managers, software engineers, analysts and business stakeholders to deliver practical solutions with meaningful impact. You'll work across ingestion, transformation and making data available to applications, using AI coding tools extensively as part of your day-to-day engineering work.
What you'll be doing

- Implement automated tests and data-quality checks
- Monitor pipelines, investigate failures and improve reliability
- Contribute to our cloud infrastructure, access management and CI/CD processes
- Handle customer data securely in an FCA-regulated environment
- Deliver independently, partnering with the Lead Data Engineer on complex work
- Review code and share good engineering practices
What we're looking for:
- Strong proficiency in SQL, Python, BigQuery and dbt
- Hands-on GCP experience
- Familiarity with modern data architecture patterns
- Experience building production data pipelines and well-structured data models
- Experience with AI coding tools such as Claude Code and analytics agents
- Experience with containerised workloads (Docker) and job orchestration
- Strong grasp of engineering principles and writing maintainable, tested code
- Strong background in Agile methodologies and Git for version control
- Excellent written and verbal communication with technical and non-technical stakeholders
It Would Be Great If You Had
- A fintech or regulated financial services background
- Experience with AI/LLM infrastructure such as developing AI model evaluations
- Familiarity with event-driven architectures, streaming or near-real-time ML pipelines
- Experience with infrastructure as code (Terraform) and managed ELT platforms
What we offer:
- Remote-first working with the option to work anywhere in the world for up to 22 days per year
- 25 days holiday plus bank holidays (up to 28 days with length of service)
- Half-day holiday for your birthday and a day off for moving house
- Pension via People’s Pension
- Wellness programme from Able Futures and subsidised private medical insurance
