Senior Data Engineer | £85,000 - £100,000 | Fully Remote (UK) | High-Growth Tech Scale-Up 🚀
Here at Burns Sheehan, we're working with a fast-growing, product-led technology business operating in the online gaming and entertainment space, as they look to hire a Senior Data Engineer to help scale their data platform.
Having experienced significant growth, the business is continuing to invest in its technology and engineering capabilities, with Data playing an increasingly important role in supporting product development, analytics and commercial decision-making.
This is an opportunity to join a small, highly technical Data Engineering team where you'll have genuine ownership of projects, influence architectural decisions and help shape engineering standards as the business continues to scale.
💻 The Role
You'll be responsible for designing, building and scaling the data infrastructure that supports the wider business, working across the full data engineering lifecycle.
Key responsibilities include:
- Designing and building scalable data pipelines using Python, SQL, Snowflake, Dagster, dbt and AWS.
- Taking end-to-end ownership of data engineering projects, from ingestion and transformation through to analytics.
- Developing and optimising data models to support business and product decision-making.
- Improving data quality, monitoring, alerting and testing across the platform.
- Building out staging and testing environments and contributing to CDC and lower-latency data initiatives.
- Working closely with Product, Engineering and Analytics teams to solve complex data challenges.
What We're Looking For
- Strong commercial experience in Data Engineering, ideally within a product-led start-up or scale-up.
- Excellent Python and SQL skills, alongside strong software engineering fundamentals.
- Experience with modern data technologies such as Snowflake, dbt, Dagster/Airflow and AWS, or similar.
- Strong understanding of data modelling, scalable pipelines and production-grade engineering practices.
- A track record of independently owning and delivering complex technical projects.
- Someone who enjoys solving problems, working with autonomy and thriving in a fast-moving environment.
Benefits
- Fully remote UK working, with flexible working arrangements and a fully supported home office setup.
- Private healthcare with zero excess, including optical cover and optional dental cover.
- Income protection to provide additional financial security.
- 25 days' annual leave, increasing by 2 days after 3 years of service and up to 30 days after 5 years.
- Workplace nursery salary sacrifice scheme, helping parents save on childcare costs.
- Tech and holiday salary sacrifice schemes, allowing you to spread the cost of purchases and holidays.
- Retail discounts and subscription perks across a range of brands.
- Quarterly team socials, bringing the remote team together.
Why Consider This Opportunity?
- £85,000 - £100,000 base salary.
- Fully remote working anywhere in the UK.
- Opportunity to influence the architecture and direction of a growing data platform.
- High-impact projects covering platform scalability, data reliability and lower-latency analytics.
- Small, collaborative engineering team with genuine technical ownership.
- Private healthcare, income protection, home office support and additional benefits.
- Clear opportunities for progression as the team continues to grow.
If you're a Senior Data Engineer who enjoys building robust data platforms, solving complex engineering challenges and having a genuine impact on a scaling technology business, we'd love to hear from you!
