Senior Data Engineer – Databricks
Malmö / Öresund | Permanent | Hybrid | Q1 2027 starts
How much of a data solution do you want to own?
If you enjoy understanding the customer’s problem, designing the solution and staying involved in the engineering, this opportunity gives you room to do all three.
We’re working with a Swedish data and AI consultancy looking to appoint 2–4 Databricks consultants as it grows its South Sweden team. Customers are moving towards Databricks, creating opportunities to contribute to platform implementations, migrations and the development of the consultancy’s wider capability.
You’ll bring practical engineering experience, sound technical judgement and an interest in working directly with customers.
What you’ll be doing
You’ll work with customers and colleagues to turn business requirements into working data solutions. Depending on the assignment, that could involve:
Designing and building ETL pipelines using Databricks, Python and SQL.
Developing data models and information architecture that support reporting, analytics and downstream applications.
Contributing to Databricks implementations and migrations.
Applying Unity Catalog and data governance practices.
Discussing architecture and technical decisions with customer stakeholders.
Taking solutions through development, testing and production delivery.
Sharing knowledge and guiding colleagues and customer teams.
The balance will vary between assignments, giving you scope to contribute across both architecture and hands-on engineering.
What you’ll bring
We’re interested in what you’ve delivered and the responsibility you’ve taken. Your experience should include:
Hands-on delivery using Databricks, supported by strong Python and SQL.
Building and maintaining production data pipelines.
ETL, data modelling and an understanding of how data supports business requirements.
Practical knowledge of Unity Catalog and governance.
The ability to explain technical decisions and work closely with customers or business stakeholders.
Ownership of delivery, including working through problems when requirements or priorities change.
Previous consultancy experience would be useful. We’re equally interested in engineers from end-user organisations who want to move into a more customer-facing role.
Experience with Azure, CI/CD, Terraform, Microsoft Fabric, Snowflake or AI engineering would add to your profile. You don’t need every technology on that list.
Why consider the opportunity?
Stay close to the engineering: contribute to the implementation as well as the design.
Have a voice in customer decisions: help establish what should be built and how.
Help develop a growing Databricks capability: contribute your experience, ideas and ways of working.
Build a long-term consulting career: join the business as a permanent colleague and contribute across customer assignments.
Location and working arrangements
The role is connected to the Malmö and Öresund region, with customer assignments typically requiring 2–3 days onsite per week.
Swedish is preferred. Strong English-speaking candidates may also be considered, depending on their experience and the customer assignment.
We’re targeting Q1 2027 starts, with timing discussed around your notice period.
Interested?
Apply with your CV or LinkedIn profile. If possible, include a few lines about a Databricks project you’ve delivered and what you personally owned.
