Senior Data Engineer

act digital is a multinational company present in 12 countries, which combines local agility and global expertise to act as a strategic partner for our clients in delivering customized and scalable solutions. In Portugal, we have around 120 clients and a team of over 400 people, working on projects in sectors as diverse as Banking, Insurance, Transport, Aviation and Energy. We are looking for a Senior Data Engineer to join our team! The team aims to build a solid database from various sources and develop analysis, reports and dashboards to provide valuable insight to the Front Office in a rapid, agile manner. Our team is responsible for multiple steps regarding data processing: Data Feeds industrialization, ETL, Data Warehousing and Data Visualization. We are in direct contact with business sponsors, sales, and traders. We seek to shape the technologies available to the client’s needs - we plan in processing the data using Python and SQL, while delivering the final product in Tableau, Power BI, APIs, and Chat bots. Main Tasks: Leverage large volumes of data from internal sources. Develop, maintain, and support data pipelines. Understand and be the point of contact for the business and assess its needs Ensure architecture meets business requirements. Recommend ways to efficiently provide quality data and added value. Communicate technical information to non-technical stakeholders, including data analysts, product managers, and business leaders Prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously, meeting deadlines and delivering high-quality results Technical Skills: Academic background in Engineering, Economics, Computing, Mathematics, Statistics or related fields 3+ years of experience in data engineering, with a strong background in data architecture Availability to work in the hybrid model or in person in the Lisbon or Porto office Professional experience in any data visualization tool such as Tableau or Power BI Professional experience in data analysis with programming, preferably Python (Pandas) Proficiency in SQL Fluency in written and spoken English Ability to analysze, synthetize and simplify Knowledge of descriptive statistics and hypothesis testing is a plus Knowledge in Big Data technology such as Pyspark, Presto and Airflow is a plus Knowledge of Power Query and DAX is a plus Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams Strong organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize multiple projects and meet deadlines Language Skills English (fluent) Soft Skills: Be driven, enthusiastic and dynamic in search of improving processes, controls & procedure Be pro-active, enthusiastic and able to work well in a team Location: Lisbon, hybrid working model
