Senior Data Engineer - Energy Data & Grid Analytics

Location: Stockholm, Sweden (Remote)
Start Date: 02 November 2026
Contract Duration: Initial 12 Months
Work Eligibility: Candidates must be based within Europe


Role Overview

Our client, a leading organisation within the energy and utilities sector, is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to support strategic initiatives focused on smart metering and grid management. This role will be instrumental in developing robust data solutions that process, transform, and analyse high-volume energy datasets to enable improved network performance and operational insights.
The successful consultant will work closely with business and technical stakeholders to build scalable data infrastructure and deliver reliable data pipelines supporting critical energy operations.


Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines for energy-related data sources.
  • Integrate and optimise data from smart metering systems and grid management platforms.
  • Build and maintain ETL/ELT processes to support reporting, analytics, and operational use cases.
  • Ensure high standards of data quality, governance, and reliability across the data landscape.
  • Collaborate with analysts, architects, and business stakeholders to define data requirements.
  • Work with large-scale time-series data and real-time energy consumption datasets.
  • Contribute to cloud-based data platform development and optimisation.
  • Support data modelling activities and ensure alignment with business objectives.
  • Identify opportunities to improve performance, scalability, and operational efficiency within existing data solutions.

Required Experience

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in Data Engineering.
  • Demonstrated experience within the energy or utilities sector.
  • Strong understanding of smart metering environments and associated data architectures.
  • Experience working with grid management, grid operations, or network-related datasets.
  • Advanced SQL and Python development skills.
  • Experience with cloud-based data platforms such as Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud.
  • Proven track record designing and implementing enterprise-scale data integration solutions.
  • Strong knowledge of data modelling, data warehousing, and data transformation principles.
  • Experience handling large and complex datasets in production environments.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in distributed teams.

Candidate Profile

The ideal consultant combines strong technical Data Engineering expertise with a practical understanding of the energy industry. You should be comfortable working with complex operational datasets and have experience delivering data solutions that support critical utility and grid infrastructure processes.


Location & Working Model

  • Fully remote role (with occassional travel)
  • Candidates must be located within Europe
  • Client engagement based in Stockholm, Sweden
  • Start date: 02 November 2026
  • Initial 12-month contract with extension potential
