Senior Data Engineer (Software Eng focus) (M/F)

THIS VACANCY IS ONLY OPEN TO CANDIDATES CURRENTLY RESIDING IN PORTUGAL OR SPAIN Your Mission You'll be working on a project to enhance and advance data-models, ETL pipelines and services key to our large multinational client in the financial sector. Hands-on experience in data CI/CD, strong knowledge of system design, algorithms, data structures, and cloud infrastructure is required. You should excel in data modeling and architecture, possess analytical prowess, and demonstrate a proactive understanding of complex subject domains. Part of your daily responsibilities will be to: Design, implement and maintain data pipelines Develop algorithms to transform data into useful information Analyse data to identify issues and create complex functions and scripts Work on solutions to implement following standards, using high-quality code, focusing on simplicity, performance, and maintainability Explore new data sources and integrate them into the data product(s) Work with CI/CD processes for data, as well as data testing and monitoring Create prototypes and documentation underlying main aspects of the work Your Story We value more your willingness to learn and contribute to the success of the project than your exact experience. You can count on us to support you acquiring knowledge in areas that are key to almost any financial industry going forward You have a bachelor, master's or Ph.D. in mathematics, statistics, physics, engineering or other quantitative subjects You have proven experience with Python Programming and PySpark You have a software development background with proven experience of design-patterns, object-oriented programming and unit-testing You have solid experience with a strongly typed programming language (e.g. Java) You have proven experience working with CI/CD processes for data as well as data testing and monitoring You have great communication skills (both verbal and written), being able to describe complex technical concepts and results in a clear and detailed manner to non-technical audiences You have strong knowledge of data modelling and data architecture concepts You have knowledge on system design, data structures, algorithms, storage systems, and cloud infrastructure You have worked in agile projects using agile collaboration tools (e.g. Azure DevOps) (nice to have) You have had experience in the insurance/reinsurance or financial industry (nice to have) You are a good communicator in English (B2/C1 level) We Offer Competitive package and potential bonus (dependent on company’s and employee’s performance).
