Senior Data Governance Advisor

We are looking for an experienced Senior Data Governance Advisor to support strategic data transformation initiatives within a global pharmaceutical environment. This role combines advisory responsibilities, governance expertise, and stakeholder leadership to establish and drive modern data governance practices across critical business domains. You will work closely with business and IT stakeholders to define data strategies, build governance frameworks, establish data ownership models, and enable the adoption of Data Product and Data Mesh principles.

Project scope:

• Define and support enterprise-wide Data Governance and Master Data Management strategies.
• Analyze business processes, application landscapes, and critical data assets to identify governance opportunities and priorities.
• Design future operating models, governance frameworks, ownership structures, stewardship models, and business processes.
• Develop clear data strategies for critical master data domains.
• Translate business requirements into practical governance solutions within Microsoft Purview and Microsoft Fabric, including evaluation of options and trade-offs.
• Lead stakeholder workshops and alignment sessions across business and technical teams.
• Define and manage metadata management, data catalog, and data lineage initiatives.
• Establish governance models for Data Products and Data Mesh environments.
• Design and implement data access governance approaches, including RBAC and ABAC models.
• Support data sharing initiatives and federated data ownership models.
• Drive the adoption of self-service data platforms and trusted data products.
• Produce governance frameworks, operating procedures, runbooks, standards, and documentation.
• Provide executive-level reporting and recommendations to Data Strategy leadership and C-level stakeholders.
• Support organizational change management and governance enablement activities.
• Monitor governance adoption, identify improvement opportunities, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
• Support platform users and handle governance-related support requests.

Competence demands:

• Extensive experience in Data Governance, Data Management, or Master Data Management (MDM) programs.
• Strong understanding of modern Data Governance concepts and best practices.
• Experience working with Microsoft Purview, Microsoft Fabric, or comparable governance platforms.
• Hands-on experience with metadata management platforms and enterprise data catalogs.
• Practical experience with data lineage implementation and management.
• Strong knowledge of Data Products, Data Mesh, and federated governance concepts.
• Experience with data access governance, permissions management, and security models.
• Knowledge of RBAC (Role-Based Access Control) and ABAC (Attribute-Based Access Control).
• Ability to translate business requirements into practical governance approaches and implementation roadmaps.
• Experience facilitating workshops and driving organizational adoption of governance frameworks.
• Very good English skills

Nice to have:

• Experience with DAMA-DMBOK methodologies and best practices.
• Knowledge of business glossaries and metadata modeling.
• Familiarity with policy-as-code concepts and Open Policy Agent (OPA).
• Experience in pharmaceutical, healthcare, or life sciences environments.
• Understanding of cloud-based data platforms and modern analytics ecosystems.
• Experience using AI-powered tools to improve delivery, documentation, and governance processes.
