BrandIndex and Profiles are YouGov's flagship syndicated data products, tracking brand health and consumer behavior across global markets for some of the world's most recognized brands. Getting the data right — and catching problems early — is central to how the team operates.

This is a newly created senior role focused on bringing that analytical rigor to scale. You will own methodology QC, proactive data health monitoring, and change impact assessment across both products.

You will also build the automation and tooling that makes this monitoring repeatable rather than manual. It is a hands-on individual contributor role with direct access to senior leadership and real influence over how the team works.

The right person has strong statistical foundations, writes code to automate their own work, and is equally comfortable presenting findings to a commercial audience as they are digging into a data anomaly.

What You'll Do

Proactive Monitoring and Data Health

  • Design and own a monitoring framework for BrandIndex and Profiles, covering panel composition, sample quality, coverage, and key data health indicators across markets
  • Run regular data health reporting, surfacing issues before they reach client-facing outputs
  • Investigate anomalies and data quality signals, conducting root cause analysis and working with Data Operations and Engineering to resolve them

Methodology QC and Change Impact Assessment

  • Lead statistical QC on methodology changes - weighting updates, imputation changes, questionnaire amendments - assessing impact on key metrics and historical comparability before changes go live
  • Develop a structured change impact assessment process, with clear documentation of decisions, trade-offs, and expected effects
  • Work alongside the Change Control process to ensure methodology changes are evaluated and communicated consistently

Automation and Tooling

  • Build the scripted pipelines, alerting tools, and reproducible frameworks that make monitoring scalable rather than manual
  • Help the wider team get better at analytical tools and methods over time
  • Identify and introduce new tooling where it genuinely improves the team's ability to monitor and assure data quality

Stakeholder Communication and Governance

  • Translate analytical and statistical findings into plain language for Product, Commercial, and Client Services teams
  • Contribute to methodology documentation, data quality standards, and the Change Control process

What We're Looking For

Technical Skills and Experience

  • 8 plus years in an analytics, data science, or quantitative research role, with a solid foundation in applied statistics and data quality
  • Deep knowledge of survey-based data methodology, including weighting, imputation, sampling, significance testing
  • Strong Python or R skills for analysis, automation, and pipeline development; SQL required
  • Experience building monitoring frameworks or alerting systems for data health in a live environment
  • Familiarity with survey research and panel-based data collection is a strong advantage
  • Experience with Power BI or Tableau is a plus

What We Are Looking for in the Person

  • Rigorous about data; instinctively looks for where things can go wrong and catches it early
  • Self-directed and gets on with things; does not need to be asked twice
  • Can explain complex statistical findings clearly to a non-technical audience
  • Works well across functions; credible with engineering, research, and product teams alike
  • Comfortable in an environment where not everything is defined yet

Experience and Qualifications

  • Degree in a related field such as Statistics, Data Science, Mathematics, Econometrics; advanced degree is an advantage
  • 8 plus years of relevant experience with demonstrable work in statistical QC, methodology governance, or data quality assurance
  • Track record of building or materially improving analytical infrastructure in a team or organization

For roles based in California, New York, Colorado, Massachusetts, or Washington State, the base salary hiring range for this position is $91,000 - 130,000 USD

Compensation offered will be determined by multiple factors including location, job-related knowledge, skills and experience.

Certain roles may be eligible for incentive compensation and additional benefits.

All US based full time employees are eligible for the following benefits:

  • Paid vacation, holidays and sick days
  • Flexible working arrangement available
  • Group medical, dental and vision insurance
  • Company-paid life and disability insurance
  • Paid parental leave
  • 401(k) with company match
