Built a high-throughput data platform from a blank page? Be the first dedicated data-platform engineer at a defense-tech company.
A Series A defense-tech company deploys autonomous sensor networks. You'd define how raw sensor and telemetry data becomes clean, labeled datasets for perception and foundation models, on a greenfield platform. The team is small and comes from leading space and defense-tech companies.
They're hiring 2 senior data platform engineers.
What you'll own
- The data platform, from ingestion to labeled datasets, built from scratch
- Backfill and reprocessing frameworks, data-quality metrics and alerting
- Time sync, lineage and geospatial context for sensor data
- Tooling for labeling and dataset creation
Must-haves
- You've architected a high-throughput data pipeline or platform from a blank page, not only run an existing one
- Python data stack (PyArrow, Polars, Pandas, NumPy, SciPy) plus Go, Rust or TypeScript
- Deploying pipelines on a cloud platform (AWS preferred)
- 5+ years of experience (roughly 5–8; startup years count extra)
- US citizenship (required because of the defense work)
Bonus points
- Sensor, audio, video or telemetry data
- A labeling tool you built
- Robotics, autonomy or space data platforms
What's in it for you
- $200k–$240k base + 0.25–0.5% equity
- A greenfield platform that feeds directly into the company's models
Good to know
- Full-time, remote in the US; Los Angeles is strongly preferred, with occasional visits to the office in the LA area
- Process: 30-minute screen with the talent lead → technical interview with the CTO (system design at block-diagram level, conversational, no coding pad) → on-site in the LA area → offer
When you apply, please include
- Your CV (PDF), your LinkedIn URL, and GitHub if you have one
- The data platform you stood up from scratch: volumes, latency and lineage
- Where you're based, and whether occasional visits to the LA area work for you
- Confirmation that you're a US citizen, and how soon you could start
- Your base salary expectation, your notice period, and any other interview processes you're in
