Senior Data Scientist

We're supporting an international technology and management consultancy as it grows its AI Engineering practice in Italy. The team helps clients move AI out of pilots and into the heart of their architecture and processes.

The role

You'll design scalable Machine Learning and Generative AI solutions for client use cases and take them into production, meeting each client's performance, security and governance standards. Alongside delivery, you'll help win new work through proposals and tenders.

What you'll do

• Design and build ML and GenAI solutions that integrate with client architecture and processes

• Industrialise models and applications for production

• Design and implement MLOps platforms and data and AI architectures

• Work closely with Cloud Data Architects, Data Engineers and fellow Data Scientists

• Prepare technical and commercial proposals and respond to medium and large tenders

• Contribute to the internal data community through research, technology scouting and new solution concepts

What you'll bring

• 8+ years' experience as a Data Scientist

• Master's degree in Computer Engineering, Data Science, Computer Science or another STEM subject

• Strong software development in Python, Scala or similar, including solution design, data structures and algorithms

• Code repositories and CI/CD

• Data and model versioning tools such as MLflow, DVC or Weights & Biases

• Google Cloud, AWS or Azure, including their data platform and AI services

• Solid grounding in ML and GenAI concepts, algorithms and methods

• Experience coordinating and growing project teams across pre-sales and delivery

• Fluent professional Italian and English

• A consultative presence, strong communication skills and willingness to travel in Italy and abroad

Nice to have

• Public sector experience

• Training and fine-tuning neural networks (e.g. PEFT, LoRA)

• Agile delivery (Scrum, Kanban)
