Senior Database Engineer

Our partner is an international technology-driven organization strengthening its internal engineering capabilities to support business-critical systems and long-term digital transformation initiatives. Their teams are focused on improving operational excellence, platform reliability, and engineering ownership across a complex global technology landscape. As part of this journey, they are looking for a Senior Database Engineer to help ensure the stability, performance, and resilience of their database environments while supporting the ongoing modernization of their data platform capabilities. Your Impact:

• Ensure the reliability, performance and availability of business-critical SQL Server environments

• Manage backup, recovery, disaster recovery and high-availability processes

• Monitor database health, performance, storage utilization and operational risks

• Troubleshoot performance bottlenecks, query issues, blocking, deadlocks and database incidents

• Support database releases, schema reviews, migration validation and rollback planning

• Collaborate with Engineering, DevOps, Infrastructure and Product teams to improve system reliability

• Contribute to database optimization, operational excellence and long-term platform improvements

Requirements

What You'll Bring:

• 5+ years of experience as a DBA, Database Engineer or similar role

• Experience with ETL/ELT processes, reporting environments or additional database technologies

• Strong knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server (in production environments)

• Experience with performance tuning, indexing, query optimization and capacity planning

• Solid understanding of backup, recovery, high availability and disaster recovery concepts

• Experience supporting production incidents, troubleshooting and root cause analysis

• Knowledge of database security, access control and data integrity best practices

• Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams

Bonus Points For:

• Experience with SQL Server AlwaysOn, replication, clustering or other HA/DR technologies

• Familiarity with Azure SQL, cloud-hosted database services and modern data platform tooling
