Are you a Service Design, and Transition Manager looking for a new challenge?

We work on some of the UK's most critical Defence and National Security programmes, delivering technology solutions and services that support those responsible for keeping our country safe.

This is an opportunity for someone with a strong background in IT Service Management, Service Delivery or Service Design and Transition, who enjoys working with different teams, improving processes and ensuring new and changing IT services are successfully introduced into live operations.

You'll have the opportunity to influence how services are delivered, challenge existing processes, identify improvements and help shape the way our teams work. You'll be joining a collaborative team supporting meaningful technology programmes within National Security, where the work you do has a genuine purpose and impact.

Location: Gloucestershire – Hybrid working, with occasional travel to other UK sites.

Security Clearance: Active eDV clearance or eligibility to obtain enhanced Developed Vetting (eDV).

What you'll be doing:

  • Support the design and transition of new and changing IT services, ensuring they are operationally ready, meet business requirements and can be effectively supported once live.
  • Work closely with Project Managers and delivery teams to ensure service management activities, documentation and requirements are completed correctly and progress through the appropriate delivery and governance gates.
  • Review existing IT service management processes, identify opportunities for improvement and work with colleagues to map, document and implement more efficient ways of working.
  • Review service proposals, business cases and supporting documentation, working with technical, operational and commercial teams to understand resource requirements, service costs and support models.
  • Collaborate with Project Managers, Service Delivery Managers, technical specialists and wider stakeholders, facilitating discussions, presenting recommendations and ensuring services are aligned with operational expectations.
  • Identify and manage risks associated with service transition, ensuring security, compliance, knowledge transfer, support arrangements and operational acceptance criteria are considered before services go live.

What you'll bring:

  • A strong background working within an IT environment, with experience in Service Delivery, IT Service Management, Service Design or Service Transition, and an understanding of how IT services are delivered and supported.
  • Good working knowledge of ITIL v3 or v4, with an understanding of service management processes, governance, continual service improvement and best practice. ITIL certification would be advantageous.
  • Experience working alongside Project Managers or delivery teams, with an understanding of project lifecycles, delivery governance and methodologies such as Agile and Waterfall.
  • Experience reviewing, mapping and documenting IT service processes, with the ability to identify gaps, challenge existing ways of working and recommend practical improvements.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, with the confidence to engage with technical and non-technical stakeholders, facilitate discussions, share knowledge and influence decisions.
  • An understanding of IT service costs, resource planning, operational risk and security considerations, ideally gained within a complex, regulated or secure IT environment.
