Connection Through Design.
JMD was built in beauty, one of the most competitive, discerning and emotionally driven categories in the world. It’s where we learned that every detail shapes perception, and our decades of work have proven that design creates connections.
We believe there is beauty in every category. Today we bring that same rigor to brands across all industries – crafting distinct identities, award-winning packaging and brand experiences that capture attention, foster loyalty and drive growth.
We build brands that create connections.
JMD is seeking a Senior Designer to join our creative team and help bring 360 brand ideas to life across packaging design, merchandising, campaigns, retail and brand content.
Working hand-in-hand with the VP Creative & Senior Art Director, you will turn creative direction into polished, innovative design across multiple brands. You'll own projects from concept development through to final files, help guide mid-level designers and freelancers, and keep the work moving with a high standard of craft.
This role is ideal for a strong, hands-on designer who is ready to take more creative ownership, and who is already using AI tools to explore more ideas, work faster and bring fresh thinking to the team.
Work Authorization:
To be considered for the Taylor opportunities, candidates must be authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship.
KEY TRAITS
- 360 Design Thinker: builds ideas that translate seamlessly from packaging to merchandising, campaigns and social.
- Concept-to-Completion Owner: takes projects from first sketch to final, production-ready files.
- AI-Fluent Creative: uses AI tools daily for ideation, mood boards, concept exploration and efficiency.
- Elevated Craft: brings a sharp eye for typography, layout, color and finish to every detail.
- Team Player and Emerging Leader: supports the Senior Art Director and helps guide mid-level designers.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Partner with the VP Creative & Senior Art Director to develop concepts and design across 360 creative programs: packaging, merchandising and retail displays, campaigns, social content and brand identity.
- Own projects from concept development through design refinement and final file preparation.
- Use AI tools to accelerate ideation, mood and concept development, visual exploration and presentation, and share new techniques with the team.
- Build cohesive brand systems that extend consistently across every touchpoint.
- Help guide and review the work of Mid-Level Designers and freelance partners.
- Prepare client presentations, including 2D renderings, comps and mockups.
- Ensure designs are production-ready, partnering with the production team on specifications, mechanicals and DTOs.
- Work closely with Project Managers to deliver on time and within budget.
- Contribute ideas to pitches, credentials and internal thought-leadership content.
- Stay current on design, beauty, retail and technology trends, including emerging AI tools.
SKILLS & EXPERTISE
- Strong branding, packaging and conceptual design skills with a portfolio that shows 360 range.
- Expert user of Adobe Creative Cloud (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, Acrobat).
- Strong knowledge of packaging design, printing, materials, finishes and structure.
- Solid 2D rendering and retouching skills; 3D rendering experience is a plus.
- Required: working knowledge of AI creative tools (e.g., Midjourney, Adobe Firefly, ChatGPT, Runway) and how to use them in a professional design workflow.
- Demonstrated ability to be good beyond the brief, consistently taking work to the next level.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills; comfortable presenting work.
- Highly organized, with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Excel, Word).
REQUIREMENTS
- BFA or BS in Graphic Design, Packaging Design or a related field.
- 5–7 years of experience in an agency or in-house creative studio.
- Beauty experience strongly preferred; fashion, spirits, lifestyle or CPG experience a plus.
- Experience designing across packaging, merchandising and campaign work.
- Required: demonstrated use of AI tools in a creative workflow.
