Show job description

Blocks Universe is home to Numberblocks, Alphablocks, Colourblocks and Wonderblocks: brands that help children discover, learn and grow through characters they love.

We’re looking for a talented, hands-on Senior Designer to help shape how our brands look and feel across products, marketing, educational resources and partnerships around the world.

You’ll turn creative ideas into clear, engaging design, giving our teams and partners the tools they need to bring Blocks Universe to life consistently and imaginatively.

Working closely with our brand, licensing, digital and editorial teams, you’ll lead design projects from initial brief through to final delivery. You’ll balance creative ambition with practical requirements, making sure everything we produce feels true to our characters, supports our educational purpose and works for its intended audience.

We are very happy to discuss flexible, hybrid and remote working options for all our vacancies. This opportunity is being offered on a fixed term contract, part time - 3 days a week. The successful candidate must be based in the UK.

Day to Day:

  • Prepare high-quality, production-ready artwork for print and digital use.

  • Create and develop style guides, setting clear standards for how our characters, logos, typography, colours and graphic assets are used.

  • Research market, consumer and design trends, translating relevant insights into trend packs and creative directions for our brands.

  • Adapt materials for different markets and audiences while maintaining the identity and integrity of each brand.

  • Develop seasonal guides, campaign playbooks and marketing toolkits for internal teams, licensees and global partners.

  • Design logos, graphic identities and supporting visual systems for new projects, initiatives and partnerships.

  • Create character visualisations and explore how our characters can work across different formats, products and settings.

  • Produce concept visuals and mock-ups that help communicate new projects, campaigns, products and experiences.

  • Design compelling brand decks, partnership presentations and corporate materials.

  • Develop educational resources that are engaging, accessible and age-appropriate, working with our educational and editorial teams to ensure accuracy and clarity.

  • Liaise with partners to understand their design needs and support consistent use of our brands.

  • Provide clear creative direction and constructive feedback on partner design work.

  • Manage assets and the design process.

  • Create, organise and maintain an accessible asset library, with clear naming, version control and guidance on usage.

  • Ensure teams and partners have access to the correct, approved assets.

  • Manage design projects from briefing and concept development through feedback, approval and delivery.

  • Coordinate priorities, schedules and external creative support where required.
