Koniag Professional Services, LLC a Koniag Government Services company, is seeking a Senior Developer & DBE to support KPS and our government customer. The position is remote. This position requires the candidate to be able to obtain a Public Trust.

Koniag Professional Services, LLC, a Koniag Government Services company, is seeking a Senior Developer & Database Engineer (DBE) to join a development team supporting a Federal client with a business and IT modernization project.

The project involves building an AI-enabled application from the ground up. The ideal candidate is an experienced, hands-on developer and database engineer who is passionate about technology, committed to lifelong learning, and able to apply technical knowledge to solve complex, real-world problems.

The Senior Developer & DBE will work within an agile team environment, contribute to full life cycle software development, and take ownership of database architecture, design, and optimization. This position requires the ability to obtain a DOI Public Trust Moderate Clearance. This position is fully remote.

Essential Functions, Responsibilities & Duties:

(May include, but are not limited to:)

  • Development – Design, develop, test, and deploy high-quality software applications using modern frameworks and languages
  • Database Engineering – Architect, build, and maintain relational and non-relational databases to support application performance and scalability
  • Collaboration – Work closely with the Solution Architect, DevOps Engineer, and Data Scientists to align development and database solutions with project requirements
  • Data Modeling – Design and implement data models, schemas, stored procedures, and database migration strategies
  • Performance Optimization – Monitor and tune database performance, ensuring systems meet non-functional requirements such as speed, availability, and scalability
  • Security – Implement and maintain data security best practices, including encryption, access control, and compliance with federal security requirements
  • CI/CD Integration – Support the integration of database changes into CI/CD pipelines in coordination with the Azure DevOps Engineer
  • AI/ML Support – Work with Machine Learning Scientists and Data Scientists to ensure data pipelines and structures support AI and machine learning model requirements
  • Code Reviews – Participate in peer code and database design reviews to maintain quality standards
  • Documentation – Document database designs, data flows, and application code to support team knowledge sharing and compliance requirements
  • Agile Participation – Actively contribute to sprint planning, stand-ups, retrospectives, and other agile ceremonies

Desired Skills & Experience:

  • Proficiency in React, Angular, Vue.js, .NET Core, Node.js, C#, and Entity Framework
  • Strong hands-on experience with SQL Server, including stored procedures, indexing, and query optimization
  • Experience with Azure SQL, Azure Cosmos DB, or other cloud-hosted database platforms
  • Familiarity with NoSQL database solutions
  • Experience with Docker and Azure Kubernetes Services (AKS)
  • Knowledge of Azure Cognitive Services and Azure Cognitive Search
  • Familiarity with AI and machine learning data pipeline requirements
  • Experience implementing multi-factor authentication and secure application design
  • Strong understanding of data security and compliance requirements in a federal environment
  • Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team
  • Exemplary attendance and ability to work outside normal business hours when needed
  • Ability to travel to client locations as needed
  • Familiarity with CMMI is a plus

Education:

  • BS degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Computer Engineering, or equivalent work experience

Requirement:

  • Overall IT/Software Development Experience 7+ years
  • Hands-on Application Development 5+ years
  • Database Engineering & Architecture 3+ years
  • Cloud-Based Development (Azure preferred) 3+ years
  • Agile/Scrum Development Methodology 2 + years
  • CI/CD Pipeline Integration 2+ years

Federal IT or Government Contracting Experience:

  • Strong knowledge of the full software development life cycle (SDLC) using Agile principles
  • Demonstrated experience with cloud technologies and architectures, preferably Azure
  • Experience with design, development, and deployment of application software at scale

Office Location and Travel:

  • Virtual/Remote within CONUS
  • Occasional travel to client locations based on project needs
