You’re probably the person who gets called when a release breaks. Yet you rarely get a say in how the platform is built.
Here, you’ll have a real say in it.
What’s in it for you
You’ll help shape how infrastructure, pipelines and environments get built on your projects, from early client conversations to go-live.
You’ll move between different clients and problems, so you won’t spend years on one platform.
You’ll help set the DevOps standards we use across projects, so your ideas go further than one client.
Who you’ll be doing it for
You’ll join hedgehog lab, a digital product consultancy with 20 years of experience. We’re around 100 people, B Corp and Great Place to Work certified, and backed by a growth capital investor.
Your clients will be public and private sector organisations going through digital transformation, from moving to a new tech stack to building an AI platform from scratch. They include retail, health tech and financial services businesses.
You’ll work in project teams of 5 to 15 people, alongside agentic engineers, software engineers, QA and designers.
What you’ll be doing
You’ll join us as a Senior Cloud Engineer, which is what we call our DevOps engineers.
You’ll design and run cloud infrastructure across AWS, Azure and GCP for products built in TypeScript, Node and Python.
You’ll build the CI/CD pipelines that let teams release often and safely, and manage it all as code so environments stay secure, monitored and cost effective.
You’ll work with clients and project teams on technical decisions and trade-offs.
Benefits and perks
28 days holiday plus bank holidays
Five paid Impact Days a year for learning, volunteering or trying something new
Two wellbeing days a year, a wellbeing budget and free counselling
Learning budget plus time for training and conferences
Enhanced maternity, paternity and adoption leave
Where you’ll work
Whilst there’s no set number of days you’re required to be in the office each week, we really value spending time together in person, both as a team and with our clients. There will be times when we’ll need you to be in one of our offices or at a client site for important meetings, workshops and key moments.
To make that work, you’ll need to be based within 50 miles of one of our offices in Edinburgh, Newcastle, Leeds, Manchester or London.
Experience you’ll need
Essential:
Running infrastructure in production on AWS, Azure or GCP
Infrastructure as code
CI/CD tooling such as GitHub Actions or GitLab CI
Containers and orchestration such as Docker or ECS
Working with clients or non-technical stakeholders on technical decisions
Nice to have:
Working across more than one of AWS, Azure and GCP
Terraform
Kubernetes in production
Working in a consultancy or agency
