Description
BisectHosting is hiring a Senior Infrastructure Engineer, Multiplayer to build and run the infrastructure behind dedicated multiplayer servers.
You'll own systems across server allocation, infrastructure management, deployments, scaling, and backend systems, from architecture through production operation. As a senior engineer, you'll also help set technical direction, improve engineering standards, and mentor other engineers.
What you'll work on:
- Architect multiplayer server orchestration, allocation, scheduling, and lifecycle systems
- Manage infrastructure across regions, including autoscaling, placement, health checks, and failure recovery
- Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines, rollout and rollback processes, and release tooling
- Plan capacity and manage provisioning across cloud and bare-metal environments
- Write and maintain Infrastructure-as-Code for bare-metal compute, networking and storage
- Run and tune Kubernetes clusters, container runtimes, and host-level configuration
- Build monitoring, logging, alerting, and dashboards for infrastructure health, capacity, allocation latency, and infrastructure failures
- Lead technical design for major platform initiatives
- Own production reliability, incident response, and root-cause improvements
- Mentor engineers and raise standards through design reviews, infrastructure code reviews, and operational best practices
Requirements
What we're looking for:
- Extensive professional experience in DevOps, SRE, infrastructure, or platform engineering
- Professional experience running multiplayer or other real-time online services in production
- Strong understanding of dedicated game servers and multiplayer networking
- Deep knowledge of Linux, networking (TCP/UDP, load balancing, DNS, firewalls), and Docker
- Experience with Infrastructure-as-Code such as Terraform, Ansible, and Packer
- Experience designing highly available systems, asynchronous workflows, and production APIs
- Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines (e.g. GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Argo CD, Jenkins)
- Strong understanding of distributed systems, including retries, consistency, concurrency, and failure recovery
- Experience with observability stacks such as Prometheus, Grafana, Loki, ELK, or Datadog
- Strong scripting or programming ability in at least one language (e.g. Go, Python, Bash)
- Ability to independently take ambiguous infrastructure problems from architecture through production
- Ability to make and communicate technical tradeoffs around reliability, scalability, latency, and complexity
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience building multiplayer orchestration, scheduling, or allocation systems
- Strong Kubernetes or Agones experience
- Experience with control-plane architectures and reconciliation systems
- Experience operating workloads across cloud and bare-metal infrastructure
- Experience with configuration management tools (e.g. Ansible, Salt, Chef)
- Experience with latency-aware placement, capacity forecasting, or autoscaling
- Experience operating multi-region infrastructure and leading production incidents
- Experience migrating or scaling a live multiplayer title across infrastructure providers
