Responsible for stewarding the financial vision of the Executive Vice Chancellor & Provost, providing financial analysis, advice, and governance oversight for Office of the Provost and Central Fiscal Units that report to the provost. Manages strategic funds in the Provost’s office and develops high-quality financial and operational analyses and presentations, including but not limited to, financial forecasts, annual and long-range operating and capital budgets, and financial models. Reporting to the Provost, the Senior Director implements Provost and Central Finance directed goals and objectives, oversees and evaluates financial and administrative activities across assigned areas, and serves as a key point of financial partnership for Provost-led CFU leadership. Works closely with the Central Finance team and the Chief Budget Officer, and interfaces with a wide constituency of partners across the institution.Job Description
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
- Support and advise Provost and office leaders on financial matters including but not limited to review of CFU reporting unit budgets and forecasts, review of new initiatives and financial modeling, financial management, and strategic support.
- Oversee financial operation and budgets for the provost office including the Vice Provosts and support staff. Manage all Workday processes in conjunction with shared services units in HR and Finance. Sets framework of Workday usage, managing reporting, and reviewing/approving transactions.
- Manage central provost strategic funds including current and future commitments, tracking to ensure available funding, and managing award coordination and transfers.
- Manage general operational issues for the office including, but not limited to, space management, support for committees, problem resolution, and ideas for continuous improvement.
- Act as the primary point of financial liaison between the Provost's Office and Provost-led CFU finance, ensuring consistent financial reporting practices and surfacing emerging issues for Provost/Central Finance visibility.
- Function as a technical and policy expert on budgetary, financial, accounting, operational matters. Conduct confidential information gathering to enable leaders to make decisions including challenges and opportunities that may arise during budget development.

Required Qualifications:
- Ten years of progressively responsible experience and proven abilities.
Preferred Qualifications:
- CPA and/or Master’s degree in Business Administration or related discipline.
- Experience using Workday Finance and HCM systems.
- Demonstrated financial expertise; strong technical knowledge and skills; broad and thorough knowledge of GAAP, not-for-profit accounting, budgeting, forecasting, and financial modeling and analysis.
- Experience working in an academic environment.
- Five years of leadership experience in relevant field(s).
