About the Role
We are seeking an exceptional Senior Director Account Management to build, scale, and lead our Retail Media (RM) Account Management function. Leading a group of Account Managers, this role will be pivotal to bringing the value proposition of an omnichannel RM platform to life for advertisers and their agencies. Under your leadership, Account Management will drive revenue retention and account growth by managing Brand and Performance solutions on participating retailers’ platforms.
This role will require you to earn trust across clients, retailer stakeholders, and agency partners, create endemic and non-endemic playbooks, and ensure advertisers’ continued ROI, across a leading RM tech stack spanning Sponsored Products, video ads, clean room solutions, and generative AI. You will leverage your understanding of the UK media, RM, and ad tech ecosystem within a dynamic scale-up environment.
What You Will Do
ROI and Revenue Delivery
- Set the standards for your team to execute strategic account plans with clear input goals, ad performance KPIs and revenue targets, driving advertiser satisfaction, upsells and continued growth of their investments.
- For Performance budgets, consult on structural integration and ease of use, e.g. via our offering within the Pacvue and Skai ecosystem.
- For Brand budgets, lead full-funnel solutions that address diverse brand objectives across retail media channels. Pioneer account strategies for non-endemic brands testing in retail media.
Account Leadership & Relationship Management
- Set up scaled approaches to monitor ROI performance and proactively drive renewals within the existing client base.
- Maintain and grow senior relationships with planners and buyers at clients and their agencies. Act as advisor on performance across the client base, understanding their e-commerce and performance marketing priorities, as well as opportunities to increase brand spend. Present performance opportunities and ROI cases at business reviews.
Portfolio & Product Knowledge
- Develop expert-level knowledge of our solutions and capabilities, our competitive edge to other platforms, as well as practical objection handling. Co-lead the creation of sales enablement material and impactful case studies based on your experiences in the market.
- Maintain expert authority on full-funnel retail media solutions, data clean rooms, custom 1st-party audience targeting, and generative AI features.
- Stay ahead of industry trends in retail media, performance marketing and brand advertising.
Building Up a Leading Account Management Function
- Establish foundational AM processes, operating playbooks, and best practices that raise the standard of client management across the organisation. Champion the strategic value and visibility of the Account Management function across internal leadership and retail partners.
- Support a culture of commercial accountability, continuous improvement, consultative rigor, and team development.
- Drive scale across participating retailers, enabled by common playbooks, sharing and reapplication, and frequent exchanges between team members.
Who You Are:
Account Management Experience
- Minimum 8+ years in digital advertising account management, client success, or media planning with measurable revenue retention responsibility. Proven track record of exceeding retention quotas, managing renewals, and navigating complex corporate stakeholder environments.
- Demonstrated experience building and scaling account management teams, playbooks, and operational workflows.
Retail Media Expertise
- Deep expertise in UK retail media networks, programmatic commerce, clean room technology, first-party data strategies, and full-funnel ad solutions.
- Track record of writing endemic and non-endemic go-to-market playbooks that drive brand engagement and commercial value.
- Proven ability to translate the retail media value proposition to Brand budgets and non-endemics.
- Experience working with RM agencies and client-direct.
UK Market & Ecosystem
- Strong relationships within the London RM ecosystem.
- Understanding of the UK retail landscape, major FMCG brand structures, and non-endemic buying behaviours.
Skills & Competencies
- Exceptional client management expertise. Ability to think beyond this year’s revenue goals.
- Exceptional executive presentation, storytelling, and negotiation skills; ability to shift conversations from transactional presenting to high-value commercial consulting.
- Highly analytical approach to decision-making, reporting, and task innovation.
- Proven history of partnering effectively with technical product teams, retailer counterparts, and senior leadership.
Technical & Platform Knowledge
- Understanding of Amazon Ads stack (Sponsored Ads, Amazon DSP, AMC).
- Familiarity with RM, commerce and programmatic platforms (Pacvue and Skai, Google Shopping, The Trade Desk, Instagram, TikTok Shop) and how they integrate with agency workflows and brand operations.
Specialized Retail Media Exposure
- Omnichannel grocery retail media experience, e.g. Tesco, Sainsbury's, Asda, Ocado, or Morrisons media networks.
- Background in grocery or FMCG go-to-market strategy. Experience with vertical-specific retail media (beauty, fashion, grocery)
- Experience working with non-endemic brands in performance marketing or e-commerce
