A Day in the Life We are seeking a visionary Senior Director, Enterprise Communications, to help shape how our organization navigates growth, change, and enterprise transformation. Reporting to the Vice President of Enterprise Communications, this leader will serve as a strategic advisor to leadership and a catalyst for organizational alignment, workforce engagement, and business adoption. This role goes beyond just traditional communications, leading integrated communications and change strategies that accelerate business outcomes, strengthen leadership effectiveness, and help employees successfully navigate organizational, operational, technology and cultural transformation. As a member of a highly collaborative and agile communications team, this individual can operate as an enterprise generalist, partnering across all functions and business lines to solve business challenges through communications, storytelling, and change leadership. Preferred hubs include Irvine, CA; Denver, CO; Calgary, AB, CAN; or Houston, TX. Remote applicants will be considered. There is expected domestic and/or international travel to support and meet with our global operational teams. The compensation range for this role is $150,000 - $175,000 USD, in addition to an annual bonus (20%), commensurate with experience, skills, and geographic location. Key Responsibilities: Enterprise Transformation & Strategic Communications Help lead enterprise-wide communication strategies that enable organizational priorities, transformation initiatives and business growth. Develop integrated communication and change management plans that support organizational, technology, operational, and cultural transformation. Translate business strategy into compelling narratives that create understanding, alignment and action. Drive employee awareness, readiness and adoption of strategic initiatives while reducing change fatigue. Establish scalable frameworks and best practices for enterprise communications and change management. Ensure communication efforts support business outcomes, employee engagement and organizational effectiveness. Executive Communications & Leadership Advisory Serve as a trusted communications advisor and strategic partner to executive and senior leadership. Develop executive communication strategies, messaging platforms, speeches, presentations, thought leadership content and leadership engagement plans. Create and manage enterprise executive communications and leadership event calendars. Counsel leaders through transformational moments, organizational change, acquisitions, crises and business milestones. Enable leaders to communicate with authenticity, consistency and credibility across audiences. Enterprise Engagement, Culture & Manager Enablement Strengthen employee engagement, trust and organizational culture through purposeful communications. Support activation of the company's values, culture and employee value proposition. Develop communication strategies that build connections between employees and enterprise priorities. Create manager communication toolkits and leadership resources that help leaders explain change, drive alignment and reinforce accountability. Lead communication initiatives that foster engagement, trust, belonging and transparency across a diverse global workforce. Enterprise Partnership, Governance & Communications Operations Help establish and mature a world-class enterprise communications function Build communication governance, planning processes, measurement frameworks and operating rhythms. Develop and maintain an enterprise editorial calendar aligned to strategic priorities and business objectives. Partner with HR, Legal, Operations, Corporate Development and business leaders to align messaging and communication strategies. Ensure consistency of messaging while balancing enterprise and business-specific needs. Communications Innovation, Technology & Measurement Advance modern communications capabilities through technology, data, and innovation. Leverage communication platforms and emerging technologies to personalize and scale employee communications. Pilot and implement AI-enabled tools that improve communications effectiveness, efficiency and employee experience. Align to measurement frameworks that track communication effectiveness, employee engagement, trust, adoption and business impact. Use data and insights to continuously improve communications strategies and channel performance. Crisis, Reputation & Growth Communications Protect and strengthen organizational reputation with stakeholders during critical business moments. Support enterprise reputation management and strategic issues communications. Develop communication strategies that ensure continuity, transparency and trust during periods of uncertainty and growth. What Matters? Success Measures - Within the first 12-18 months, this leader will: Establish enterprise communications as a trusted strategic partner in enterprise planning and transformation efforts. Implement enterprise communications governance, planning processes, and measurement frameworks. Partner in coordinating on an enterprise editorial calendar. Establish baseline trust, reputation, engagement, and change adoption metrics. Deliver successful communications support for strategic business, technology, and organizational transformation initiatives. Improve manager preparedness and leadership communication effectiveness. Increase employee understanding of company strategy, priorities, and organizational changes. Drive measurable improvements in adoption, engagement, alignment, and organizational readiness. Business Impact - This role will help the organization achieve: Faster adoption of strategic initiatives Reduced change fatigue Greater employee engagement and productivity Stronger leadership effectiveness Increased trust and transparency Higher retention and workforce stability Better alignment across business units and regions A more agile enterprise capable of moving faster through change and growth Your Expertise and Skills To thrive in this role, you’ll enjoy meaningful work and take ownership of the responsibilities outlined below, which describe the knowledge, skills, and abilities you’ll use to do your best work and make a real impact. 12+ years of progressive experience in a communications and public relations leadership role Bachelor's degree in Communications, Change Management, Public Relations, Journalism or a related field is required Proven ability to create compelling communications that engage, educate and inspire audiences Demonstrated ability to effectively partner, coach and consult with executive and senior-level leaders across functions, businesses and/or countries Experience enhancing and refining company branding, values and behaviors Presence, confidence, maturity and emotional intelligence Demonstrated ability to lead or support large-scale communications initiatives, including assembling and directing resources to ensure timelines are met Willingness and ability to handle multiple and competing priorities across different time zones and global teams Ability to navigate a dynamic, fast-paced environment Expert change communication, project management, prioritization and creative problem-solving skills Ability to travel domestically and internationally Exceptional writing and editing skills, with the ability to adapt content for different channels and audiences; AP style expertise Prior public company experience, either working directly for or via agency Experience with Adobe, Canva, ClickUp, internal comms tech (SharePoint, Poppulo), PR technology (Cision, Muck Rack, Meltwater, Business Wire, etc.) is a plus Onterris is a leading global environmental solutions company partnering with organizations to solve complex challenges where environmental pressures, regulatory expectations and operational risks intersect.
