Position Overview –

· Remote - Field with 60% Travel

· Reports To The VP, Medical Affairs

Neurogene is seeking an experienced and highly collaborative Senior Director, Head of Field Medical to build and lead our U.S. Medical Science Liaison (MSL) organization.

This leader will be responsible for developing a high-performing field medical team and establishing the strategy, culture, capabilities, and operating model required to support Neurogene as we advance toward potential commercialization.

This is a critical leadership role within Medical Affairs. The Senior Director will translate Medical Affairs strategy into meaningful field execution, ensuring our MSL organization builds trusted scientific relationships with healthcare professionals, treatment centers, investigators, and other key external stakeholders while bringing high-quality insights back into the organization.

The ideal candidate is a proven field medical leader and team builder who understands that excellence in rare disease requires curiosity, credibility, strong judgment, exceptional people leadership, and an ability to operate effectively in a dynamic, rapidly evolving biotech environment, in addition to scientific expertise. The successful candidate will be a builder, coach and leader who can create an exceptional field organization from the ground up.

Experience in rare disease, pediatric neurology, genetic medicine, and/or gene therapy is highly valued, and we are equally interested in exceptional leaders who have demonstrated the ability to build and lead outstanding field medical organizations in complex specialty or rare disease environments.

This leader should be equally comfortable setting strategy and tactical planning, coaching an MSL after a customer interaction and contributing to broader Medical Affairs planning; challenging conventional thinking and listening carefully when the field tells us something we need to hear.

Most importantly, this leader will understand that in rare disease, every interaction matters. The quality of the team we build, the relationships we establish, and what we learn from the community will directly influence our ability to serve patients and families well.
