POSITION SUMMARY:
The Senior Director, Portfolio Performance & Project Delivery is accountable for translating enterprise technology strategy into a prioritized, executable investment portfolio. Reporting to the Chief Information Officer, this leader directs enterprise portfolio governance, the IT PMO, program and project delivery standards, resource and capacity planning, dependency management, delivery risk, and benefits realization. The role provides executives with the transparency and decision support required to align investments, resolve tradeoffs, and deliver measurable business outcomes.
Work Schedule: Remote-Centric Hybrid
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Enterprise Portfolio Management: Own the integrated technology portfolio and enterprise roadmap across programs, projects, implementations, and strategic initiatives. Lead prioritization and sequencing decisions, establish portfolio health and investment visibility, manage cross-enterprise dependencies, and recommend tradeoffs required to improve delivery confidence and business value.
- IT PMO & Delivery Excellence: Establish practical, right-sized program and project management standards. Drive consistent planning, milestone management, RAID management, project health, stage gates, escalation, and closure without creating unnecessary bureaucracy.
- Portfolio Performance: Establish objective measures of schedule, cost, scope, resource utilization, delivery confidence, benefits, and outcomes. Create a consistent definition of project and portfolio health.
- Resource & Capacity Management: Create enterprise visibility into available versus committed IT capacity. Identify over-allocation, resource conflicts, skill gaps, competing priorities, and future capacity requirements. Partner with IT leaders and the Office of the CIO on resource plans and capacity tradeoffs.
- Integrated Planning & Dependencies: Maintain an enterprise technology roadmap and integrated delivery plan, identifying dependencies between applications, infrastructure, cybersecurity, data, M&A, vendors, and business initiatives.
- Financial Performance: Partner with IT Finance and technology leaders to provide visibility into project budgets, forecasts, actuals, labor utilization, investment performance, and portfolio-level financial performance.
- Performance Management & MOR: Lead the technology portfolio performance cadence and Monthly Operating Review as the primary management mechanism for evaluating commitments, progress, risks, financial performance, capacity, and outcomes. Drive decisions, assign corrective actions, escalate unresolved issues, and hold accountable leaders responsible for recovery plans and results.
- Executive Reporting: Produce concise, trusted CIO and executive reporting, including portfolio dashboards, delivery scorecards, capacity views, major risks, investment performance, and items requiring leadership intervention.
- Benefits Realization: Ensure initiatives have defined outcomes and measures of success. Track expected versus realized benefits and conduct post-implementation reviews for major initiatives.
- Delivery Risk & Escalation: Identify deteriorating projects, unresolved dependencies, resource constraints, financial variance, and other threats early enough for leadership intervention.
- Continuous Improvement: Improve AMSURG's project and portfolio management maturity, focusing on speed, transparency, accountability, predictability, and business outcomes rather than administrative process.
- Organizational Leadership: Build and lead a high-performing enterprise portfolio and delivery organization. Establish clear accountability, develop portfolio and project management talent, define role expectations, and create a culture of disciplined execution, transparency, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
