About Ethos
Ethos (Nasdaq: $LIFE) is a leading life insurance technology company on a mission to protect families by democratizing access to life insurance and empowering agents at scale. With its robust three-sided technology platform, Ethos is transforming the life insurance experience for consumers, agents, and carriers alike. Ethos offers instant, accessible products and a seamless online process that requires no medical exams and just a few health questions; it eliminates traditional barriers, making it easier than ever for everyone to protect their families. Ethos is redefining how life insurance is bought, sold, and underwritten.
About the Role
Ethos has digitized one of the most painful journeys in consumer finance. Today, someone can apply for life insurance in minutes, with no medical exam and just a few health questions. Our digital experience is highly functional; now we want to make it inspirational, educational, and genuinely helpful at the moments that matter most.
We’re looking for an exceptional Product leader to own the back half of our consumer funnel: the health interview where users answer sensitive questions and get an instant underwriting decision and the post-approval experience where they choose how much coverage they need, for how long, and complete their purchase. These are the highest-stakes moments in the journey, where trust, clarity, and confidence determine whether a family ends up protected. Your work will have a direct and positive impact on people’s lives at scale.
This is a role for a senior product leader who pairs first-principles thinking and deep consumer empathy with rigorous experimentation and a talent for simplifying complexity. Ethos is a product-first company, and Product leaders (as well as PMs) here operate with a high degree of ownership. You'll lead a team of product managers, set the multi-year vision for these surfaces, drive your team’s quarterly planning and roadmap, and be accountable for results at scale.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Leadership & People Management
- Lead, coach, and grow a team of product managers, building a culture of ownership, rigorous experimentation, and shared learning
- Set clear goals and development plans for your team, run regular performance conversations, and raise the bar on PM craft
- Partner with recruiting to hire exceptional PMs as the team scales
- Stay hands-on: go deep with your PMs and cross-functional team to give them the steering, feedback, and unblocking they need to excel
Strategy & Vision
- Own the product vision and roadmap for the application and purchase experience, from the start of the health interview through policy purchase and early retention
- Translate business goals into a portfolio of bets, balancing big swings that get signal quickly with disciplined follow-ups
- Drive operational excellence in experimentation on lower-traffic, high-value surfaces: fast kill-or-continue decisions, clean sequencing, and careful management of interacting tests
Cross-Functional Leadership
- Partner closely with Engineering, Design, and Analytics, and collaborate with Underwriting, Sales, and Compliance to create innovative solutions
- Represent the product function on complex cross-functional tradeoffs involving underwriting risk, operational cost, and conversion
- Communicate strategy, results, and learnings clearly to executive leadership and the broader organization
- Represent the user in every forum: advocate for experiences that are accessible, delightful, and simple
Qualifications and Skills:
- 10+ years of product management experience at high-growth technology companies, building consumer products at significant scale
- 5+ years managing and developing product managers, including managers or senior ICs, with a track record of building high-performing teams
- Deep experience owning conversion in complex, high-consideration purchase flows, ideally from application or checkout through purchase
- A track record of running rigorous A/B testing programs, including on lower-traffic surfaces where speed of decision-making matters
- Experience in fintech, insurtech, healthcare, or other regulated consumer industries, and comfort partnering with risk, operations, and compliance teams
- Experience with personalization or ML-driven recommendations is a strong plus
- Strong UX instincts and storytelling: you know how to explain complex financial decisions simply and help users feel confident
- Strong analytical orientation; proficient with SQL, Hex, Mixpanel, Amplitude (or similar) for self-serve analysis
- Exceptional communication clear reasoning; able to influence across functions and levels
- Comfortable operating at multiple altitudes, from multi-year vision to hands-on execution
