About the opportunity
TRR is recruiting on behalf of a major European institution for a Senior Documentation and Training Officer to join its corporate IT training and support function. This is a senior position combining technical documentation, IT training, e-learning development and user support, working with corporate applications used within a complex international environment.
You'll work closely with users, business stakeholders, developers, project managers and service teams to ensure applications are properly documented, users are effectively trained, and high-quality support materials are available.
The role:
You will be responsible for:
- Designing and delivering online and face-to-face IT training, including practical exercises.
- Reviewing and updating training materials following application releases and functional changes.
- Creating and maintaining user manuals, FAQs, quick-reference guides, workbooks, tutorials and online help.
- Developing accessible web-based documentation and applying appropriate version-control practices.
- Providing first- and second-level user and training support.
- Investigating user issues and documenting detailed reproduction steps for escalation.
- Supporting application and content testing.
- Creating and editing professional training videos and screen recordings.
- Adding graphics, professional audio, subtitles and captions to training content.
- Designing and developing interactive e-learning modules.
- Establishing documentation standards, templates and style guides.
- Supporting the creation of presentations, reports, statistics and other communications material.
- Producing monthly activity reporting.
- Working collaboratively within a multicultural and multilingual environment.
Essential experience:
We're looking for candidates with:
- 10+ years' experience producing IT/user documentation, including manuals, FAQs and user guides.
- 10+ years' experience providing IT user support.
- 10+ years' experience delivering IT training.
- 5+ years' experience developing e-learning content.
- 2+ years' experience editing voice, video and online training recordings.
- 2+ years' experience working within a multicultural/international environment.
- Strong technical writing and documentation skills.
- Excellent presentation and training-delivery skills.
- Experience explaining complex technical concepts clearly to different audiences.
- Strong user/customer support experience.
Technical skills:
Experience with some or all of the following would be highly advantageous:
- Adobe Acrobat, Captivate, InDesign, Illustrator / Photoshop
- Articulate / Articulate Storyline
- Camtasia
- ServiceNow, Jira or similar ticketing/support platforms
- Microsoft 365 – particularly Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Teams and SharePoint
- Screen recording and video/audio editing
- Captioning and accessible content creation
- Remote-support tools and basic troubleshooting
Languages:
- English – minimum B2
- French – minimum B2
- Strong verbal communication and clear pronunciation are essential.
Qualifications:
Candidates should meet one of the following:
- University degree equivalent to EQF Level 6, with a minimum of 17 years' professional IT experience; or
- Secondary education diploma giving access to higher education, with a minimum of 22 years' professional IT experience.
Location & working arrangements:
- Brussels, Belgium
- Primarily remote with one day per month on site
- Additional ad-hoc attendance may occasionally be required
Eligibility:
The selected professional must already hold, or be eligible to obtain, an EU-27 security clearance. They will also be required to comply with applicable ethics, confidentiality, data-protection, acceptable-use, and information-security obligations.
Salary / Rate
€40,000–€60,000, depending on experience and market level.
