Macquarie University is reimagining the student learning experience. As part of the Macquarie Advantage, Education for Future Generations, a university-wide project is underway to integrate Microsoft Teams into the student learning environment, complementing iLearn to create a more dynamic, interactive and connected experience for students. With more than 2,450 units offered across all teaching periods in 2026, the scale of the opportunity and the impact is significant.
To deliver this, we are recruiting two Senior Education Developers for a 12-month term within the Office of the Pro Vice-Chancellor (Education), working closely with Digital Transformation team, IT, Faculty and Macquarie Academy learning designers. You will be at the centre of discovery, design, development and delivery: building practical digital learning solutions, then equipping academic and professional staff to use them with confidence through training and effective handover.
This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys the idea of bringing Microsoft Teams to life in the digital classroom environment. If you are energised by technology-enhanced learning, evidence-informed design and the chance to influence practice across an entire university, we would like to hear from you.
About the Role
Reporting to the Head, Operations and Strategic Delivery (PVCE), you will design and deliver technology-enhanced learning solutions across a diverse range of courses and programs and provide expert advice that shapes how online and blended learning is delivered at Macquarie. Key responsibilities include:
- Designing and producing high-quality, technology-enhanced digital learning solutions that meet agreed timelines, quality standards and budget parameters.
- Providing expert consultancy, advice and training to academic staff, learning designers and central partners to shape online and blended learning strategies and create seamless student experiences across digital environments.
- Evaluating pedagogical effectiveness throughout development and at project completion, analysing feedback and impact data to inform evidence-based improvements.
- Embedding the University's vision and imperatives and meeting statutory and policy obligations, including accessibility, while designing for employability, reuse and syndication where appropriate.
- Establishing digital design standards and tools, including templates, project planning resources and functional specifications, and encouraging consistent adoption of agreed procedures and quality benchmarks across the academic community.
- Managing learning technology development projects end-to-end: scoping work, coordinating multidisciplinary contributions (such as video, audio, visual design and programming specialists), maintaining clear stakeholder communication and delivering sustainable, achievable outcomes.
- Keeping pace with university, national and international developments, including digital and AI-enabled pedagogies, and translating insights into practical improvements and strategic recommendations.

You bring sound professional judgement, initiative, and a genuine interest in what makes learning work for students.
- A relevant tertiary qualification in technology, instructional design or a related field, and/or an equivalent combination of qualifications and extensive relevant experience.
- Substantial experience designing and developing digital education programs in a higher education context, including engaging online and blended learning experiences – ideally using Moodle/iLearn and Microsoft Teams.
- Demonstrated expertise navigating technologies, systems and digital environments to create streamlined experiences for students, academic and professional staff.
- Demonstrated ability to integrate AI meaningfully and effectively into education learning environments.
- High-level communication, consultation and relationship-building skills, with the ability to advise and train colleagues across a range of disciplines.
- Well-developed organisational and project coordination skills, including the ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines in a complex environment.
- Capacity to work with autonomy and initiative while contributing effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team, applying sound professional judgement.
