- Review baseline data, impact assessments, and significance conclusions for technical robustness.
- Ensure appropriate consideration of Habitats Directive, Birds Directive, Water Framework Directive, and EIA Directive requirements.
- Support preparation of environmental management measures, CEMP inputs, and monitoring proposals.
- Work closely with planning colleagues to align environmental assessments with planning strategy and submission requirements.
- Identify and escalate significant environmental and consenting risks, advise project managers and clients on appropriate responses, and support evidence-based project decisions.
- Liaise with clients, statutory bodies, and internal teams on environmental matters.
- Support responses to statutory queries, RFIs, and public submissions.
- Contribute to early-stage constraints mapping and environmental inputs to option selection and design development.
- Act as a key point of contact for clients on environmental assessment matters, including progress updates, technical advice and issue resolution.
- Monitor project performance against agreed scope, programme and fee, manage changes in scope, and identify additional service requirements where appropriate.
- Mentor and support junior environmental consultants and coordinators, including review of work and professional development guidance.
- Support bids, tenders and proposals through preparation of environmental scopes, methodologies, programme inputs and fee estimates.
Essential Qualifications and Requirements
- Minimum of a Level 8 or Level 9 qualification (or equivalent) in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Water, or a related discipline.
