Is this job info correct?

About Redtree Redtree Engineering specializes in engineering, project management, and construction support services across mission-critical facilities, power systems, industrial projects, and complex infrastructure, with a particular strength in power plant and power generation design. Redtree offers 100% remote work for this role. As a growing engineering firm, we've built our team around flexibility from day one, giving engineers the ability to do serious, high-impact design work from anywhere in the U.S., without relocating or commuting to an office. Position Summary Redtree is seeking a Senior Instrumentation & Controls (I&C) Engineer to execute and help lead the design and development of process, plant, and building control systems for distributed generation and district energy projects, including electric, steam, chilled water, hot water, and cogeneration facilities. This role covers I&C engineering activities across the full project lifecycle, on both EPC and traditional Design-Bid-Build (DBB) projects, and works closely with process, mechanical, and project management teams. This role carries more independent ownership of design deliverables than earlier-career positions, along with growing responsibility for reviewing the work of less experienced engineers and interfacing directly with clients on defined scope. You Will... Lead the design and development of control system architecture, I/O lists, control narratives, logic diagrams, and cause and effect diagrams for DCS and/or PLC systems. Develop and manage instrumentation design deliverables, including instrument lists, data sheets, specifications, installation details, and location plans. Develop wiring diagrams, loop diagrams, and interconnection drawings. Coordinate the development of Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) with process and mechanical engineering teams. Perform instrumentation engineering calculations and sizing, including control valves, flow measurement devices, and thermowells. Apply knowledge of measurement technologies and control strategies to select instrumentation for pressure, temperature, flow, level, and analytical measurements. Participate in process safety activities, including HAZOP studies and design reviews, and incorporate findings into control system design. Support procurement activities, including technical specifications, RFQ documentation, bid evaluations, and vendor submittal review. Coordinate with control system vendors and suppliers, including participation in Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) and Site Acceptance Tests (SAT). Provide technical support during construction, installation, and commissioning, including field inspections and issue resolution. Serve as a client point of contact on defined I&C scope, under the guidance of a discipline lead. Review deliverables and provide technical guidance to less experienced engineers. Coordinate with other engineering disciplines to ensure an integrated design approach. If You... Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Chemical Engineering, or related degree, from an ABET-accredited program. 6-8 years of relevant engineering experience; EPC project experience preferred. Strong knowledge of instrumentation and control system design principles, practices, and industry standards (ISA, ANSI, IEEE). Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Experience developing or reviewing P&IDs, loop diagrams, and instrument data sheets. Experience developing control logic and system control narratives. Strong knowledge of instrumentation selection and specification. Demonstrated critical thinking skills and ability to work methodically and analytically in a quantitative problem-solving environment. Strong attention to detail, organization, and problem-solving skills. Ability to perform quality reviews of detailed engineering documents and specifications. Willingness to travel to project/construction sites as needed (20% estimated). Preferred Qualifications Professional Engineer (PE) license, or active pursuit of licensure. Demonstrated experience in a client-facing technical role on I&C scope. Experience supporting process safety reviews (HAZOP, PHA) and developing interlock/control documentation. Experience mentoring or reviewing the work of junior engineers. What Redtree Offers 100% remote work , U.S.-based, with no relocation or office requirement. 100% employer-sponsored benefits. Direct exposure to the full project lifecycle, from concept through construction and commissioning, rather than a narrow phase or discipline silo. A growing, entrepreneurial engineering team partnering with industry-leading clients on mission-critical facilities, power systems, and complex infrastructure. Multiple openings across Mid to Senior levels, with the flexibility to match title and compensation to the selected candidate's experience. Work Authorization: Must be able to work in the United States without employer sponsorship, now or in the future.
