What you will be doing:
- Provide technical leadership for electrical, controls, automation, and capital projects across manufacturing operations in North America.
- Combine hands-on electrical/controls engineering with project management as an internal technical consultant and Lead Electrical/Controls Engineer for major projects.
- Engineer electrical power and control systems for industrial capital projects.
- Develop project scopes, technical specifications, engineering designs, cost estimates, schedules, justifications, and documentation.
- Prepare/review electrical specifications for equipment and manufacturing processes.
- Support corporate electrical standards and specifications.
- Provide plant technical support, including electrical safety, root-cause failure analysis, and corrective actions.
- Manage capital projects through planning, design, procurement, installation, commissioning, startup, training, and closeout.
- Lead electrical/controls engineering on major or complex projects valued at $5M+.
- Manage projects typically ranging from $500K–$2M, including budgets, forecasts, schedules, scope, deliverables, execution, and reporting.
- Coordinate suppliers, contractors, consultants, and external engineering resources.
- Develop bid packages, supplier lists, bid evaluations, and purchasing recommendations.
- Ensure equipment and service contracts meet technical specifications and project requirements.
- Communicate project status, risks, issues, and changes to management and stakeholders.
- Support commissioning, startup, and plant training.
- Mentor junior engineers and influence multidisciplinary teams to achieve milestones.
Experience you will need:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, or Controls Systems Engineering.
- 5+ years of control systems engineering experience in continuous and/or discrete manufacturing.
- Strong electrical and controls engineering capabilities.
- Hands-on experience with Allen-Bradley PLCs and HMIs, including programming and enterprise/control network communications.
- Project management experience leading major/complex electrical or controls projects.
- Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously.
- Strong knowledge of NFPA 70E and electrical safety, including arc-flash and shock hazards.
- Ability to develop complex, innovative engineering and process solutions.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to influence multidisciplinary teams and management and drive sustained execution.
- Experience collaborating with engineering teams, contractors, suppliers, and consultants.
- Ability to design and execute projects across North America.
- 40–60% travel required; approximately 50% expected.
