Senior Electrical Design Engineer (Technical Lead) About the Team / Our Culture For more than 80 years, Tektronix has set the benchmark for quality in electronic test and measurement instruments. Our brand is built on engineering excellence, and we take that responsibility seriously. We foster a culture centered on learning, problem-solving, strong teamwork, and operational discipline. Continuous improvement is part of our DNA, and we thrive in a collaborative, mission-driven environment. At Tektronix, engineers have the opportunity to solve challenging technical problems, influence product direction, and develop technology that enables innovation across industries worldwide. We value technical excellence, ownership, collaboration, and a relentless focus on customer success. About the Role We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Electrical Design Engineer to serve as a technical lead for the architecture, design, validation, and delivery of advanced test and measurement systems. This individual will drive key technical decisions, mentor engineers across disciplines, and collaborate closely with systems, FPGA, software, mechanical, manufacturing, and test engineering teams to deliver industry-leading products. This role requires deep expertise in PCB design, high-speed and mixed-signal circuit design, RF and precision timing systems, and the ability to lead complex technical programs from concept through production. The ideal candidate combines strong technical depth with a demonstrated ability to influence architectural decisions, drive execution, and develop engineering talent. This role offers the opportunity to shape the architecture of next-generation Tektronix instruments and influence technical direction across multiple engineering disciplines. What Success Looks Like Lead the architecture, design, implementation, and validation of complex PCB-based hardware systems, including schematic capture, layout direction, bring-up, debug, and production release. Provide technical leadership across the electrical engineering team by coordinating design activities, driving alignment, mentoring engineers, and establishing engineering best practices. Lead system-level electrical architecture development for next-generation instrumentation platforms, making critical tradeoff decisions that balance performance, cost, manufacturability, quality, and schedule. Design high-speed, analog, mixed-signal, RF, and digital circuits with strong focus on signal integrity, power integrity, reliability, and manufacturability. Develop and integrate RF, timebase, and precision timing circuitry, including low-jitter clocking, synchronization, and frequency-sensitive subsystems. Apply deep understanding of analog signal chains, transmission line theory, impedance control, noise analysis, and precision measurement techniques to solve complex engineering challenges. Lead root-cause analysis and debug of complex board-level and subsystem-level issues using structured engineering methodologies. Drive hardware architecture and technical tradeoffs across performance, cost, schedule, manufacturability, and technical risk. Partner closely with systems, FPGA, software, mechanical, manufacturing, and test engineering teams to define requirements, align technical decisions, and execute successful product deliveries. Lead design reviews, architecture reviews, DFx activities, and continuous improvement initiatives to ensure technical rigor and engineering excellence. Serve as a technical mentor and role model, helping develop engineering talent through coaching, design reviews, technical guidance, and sharing of best practices. Translate customer and market needs into innovative technical solutions that deliver measurable value and differentiation for Tektronix products. Drive execution by developing realistic technical plans, proactively identifying risks, and leading mitigation strategies to achieve predictable product delivery. Actively lead prototype builds of PCBs and instruments, including planning, BOM development, integration, validation, and performance characterization. Influence technical decisions beyond immediate project boundaries and contribute to the long-term evolution of Tektronix hardware platforms, tools, and methodologies. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field. 10+ years of experience designing complex electronic hardware systems, including ownership from architecture through production release. Demonstrated success leading technically complex hardware development efforts and delivering products to production. Deep expertise in high-speed, analog, mixed-signal, and RF circuit design. Strong expertise in PCB design, signal integrity, power integrity, analog design, and hardware bring-up/debug. Experience designing RF, timebase, precision timing, or frequency-sensitive circuits. Strong understanding of transmission line theory, impedance control, noise analysis, and precision measurement systems. Experience with common digital interfaces such as SPI, I²C, DDR, PCIe, or similar high-speed interfaces. Proficiency with laboratory characterization and debug techniques using oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, VNAs, signal generators, and related instrumentation. Experience with scripting and automation using Python, MATLAB, or similar tools. Demonstrated ability to lead through influence, mentor engineers, and drive cross-functional technical alignment. Proven ability to balance technical, schedule, and business priorities while making sound engineering decisions in ambiguous environments. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong analytical skills and structured problem-solving abilities. Desired Qualifications Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field. Experience developing oscilloscopes, signal analyzers, signal generators, or other high-performance test and measurement instruments. Experience with precision analog front ends, acquisition systems, calibration architectures, or metrology concepts. Experience performing RF characterization and VNA measurements. Experience with Ansys HFSS, HyperLynx, ADS, or comparable simulation and signal integrity analysis tools. Experience serving as a technical lead for multidisciplinary engineering teams. Experience developing products in regulated, quality-focused, or high-reliability engineering environments. Track record of mentoring engineers and helping build strong technical teams. #LI-RG1
