Is this job info correct?

IPX Power, a clean energy company, develops, owns, and operates some of the world’s largest energy resources, delivering affordable, reliable power to utilities and other customers. We’re in a rapid growth phase with 4.3 GW of solar PV and 8.8 GWh of battery storage in construction or operation, with more projects under various stages of development. IPX is a profitable, well capitalized, independent power producer that has delivered billions of dollars of industrial-scale clean energy infrastructure. The company was recently formed as a spin-out of Intersect, as a result of their recent acquisition by Google. IPX is supported by long-standing existing investors TPG Rise Climate, Climate Adaptive Infrastructure, and Greenbelt Capital Partners. IPX is rooted in a culture of collaboration, creativity, and operational excellence. We’re building and operating billions of dollars in assets and seeking people eager to develop, build, and operate one of the world’s largest renewables and storage portfolios About This Role The Electrical Engineer will lead the end-to-end technical execution of high-voltage (HV) switchyards, substations, and medium-voltage (MV) systems across utility-scale solar and battery energy storage projects. This role serves as the central hub for critical engineering decisions, ensuring that switchyards are engineered, designed, and constructed strictly up to utility standards for seamless interconnection and handover. Additionally, you will own critical technical engineering decisions spanning utility interconnection of generation facilities, transmission design optimization, and MV collection system performance —from early-stage development through financing, construction, commissioning, and into operations. The role requires a strong balance of technical depth in HV switchyard/substation design and power system studies, combined with elite technical workstream management skills. You will direct EPCs, coordinate with utilities and equipment vendors, and align internal cross-functional teams to drive projects across the finish line on schedule and within budget. What You’ll Do Lead the technical program lifecycle for the design, engineering, and execution of HV substations and switchyards (115kV–500kV), ensuring all designs strictly adhere to interconnecting utility standards and specifications. Act as the primary technical liaison between internal teams, utilities, equipment vendors, and EPCs to manage utility interconnection requirements, design approvals, and switchyard handover processes. Drive clear Divisions of Responsibility (DOR) matrices between the IPP, EPCs, and interconnecting utilities to solidify technical boundaries and delivery schedules. Continuously audit program health to identify engineering or execution gaps and deploy proactive countermeasures to ensure successful switchyard energization and handover. Direct EPCs, Engineers of Record, and consultants to optimize substation and transmission designs, reduce execution risk, and maintain schedule and cost targets. Own the utility interconnection scope, including the technical review of applications, steady-state/dynamic models, and technical negotiations with ISOs and utilities (e.g.,CAISO, ERCOT). Provide NERC and regional regulatory (CAISO/ERCOT) compliance support, ensuring operational readiness and adherence to PRC, MOD, and related standards. Develop and maintain engineering standards, technical specifications, EPC exhibits, and testing protocols. Witness and evaluate FAT/SAT, commissioning, and energization activities. Support EPC RFPs and supply agreements by defining enforceable technical requirements and evaluating vendor proposals. Contribute to Independent Engineer (IE) diligence and technical documentation for project financing. What You’ll Bring Minimum 12+ years of experience leading technical scope and engineering programs for HV substations (345kV–500kV) and MV collection systems within an IPP, Utility, EPC, or engineering firm. Proven experience managing EPCs, consultants, major equipment vendors, and cross-functional teams through a project's lifecycle. Direct experience with FACTS & Series Compensation, including fixed series capacitors for high-voltage transmission lines, SVCs, STATCOMs, and other Flexible AC Transmission Systems. Strong working knowledge of NERC PRC & MOD standards and regional requirements (CAISO, ERCOT) related to transmission facility and plant operational compliance. Deep understanding of HV/MV equipment, protection and control schemes, metering, substation SCADA, and design trade-offs (technical vs. cost vs. schedule). Solid foundation in power system studies and working knowledge of steady-state modeling tools (ETAP, SKM, DIgSILENT, CDEGS, Aspen, or similar). Advanced Excel skills for technical, performance, and financial analysis. Familiarity with industry codes and standards (NEC, NESC, IEEE). PE (Professional Engineer) license is highly preferred. Bachelors in Electrical Engineering (or related field); Masters or PhD is a plus. Total Rewards We care about your well-being, growth, and balance. Here’s how we support you: Compensation: USD $190,000 – $200,000 ( total compensation includes base salary + bonus ) Health & Wellness: 100% premium coverage for you and your dependents on medical, dental, and vision Time to Recharge: Unlimited PTO, plus two company-wide breaks (Fourth of July & end of year) Family Support: Up to 12 weeks of fully paid parental leave, plus 6 additional weeks for birth parents; access to family planning support via Carrot and Maven Mental Health: Free access to Spring Health which includes 5 free Therapy & psychiatry sessions, plus a Headspace account for mindfulness and meditation through our physical health vendor, Wellhub+ Retirement: 3% non-elective employer contribution to your 401k or RRSP, ensuring your financial future is on the right track Perks & Extras: $150 monthly food stipend, $150 monthly reimbursement for cell phone/ internet, pet insurance allowance, full home office setup and free access to UrbanSitter with $625 in quarterly paid company credits, ActiveHero, and One Medical Ready to take ownership of critical clean energy assets and help drive reliable performance?
