Role highlights: Senior Electronics Engineer Location: Warsaw, Poland Department: Engineering Reports to: Engineering Lead, AOCS Hardware Employment type: Permanent Workplace model: Office Employment is subject to applicable security screening (incl. SUPO, where required) Why this role matters: You design and own the embedded electronics that give ICEYE’s spacecraft the ability to sense their environment, make decisions, and act, safely and reliably, in orbit. Working closely with firmware and systems engineers, you take hardware from first schematics through bring-up, verification, and on-orbit support, always looking for ways to make the next design more robust than the last. Your job will be to work closely with production teams, operations teams, and software teams to ensure smooth and performant operation of our Attitude and Orbit Control Systems in development and deployed environments. Expect to be involved in the complete lifecycle of the system - from design phases of next-generation architectures to maintenance and optimization of existing systems we and our customers operate. We move fast. At ICEYE, you are expected to understand the whole system - not just your slice of it - and to iterate quickly. Designs you work on today can be launched to orbit within months, not years. This is an environment where your decisions carry real weight and your work becomes tangible faster than almost anywhere else in the industry. You will have a direct impact on mission success as the performance and reliability of our AOCS electronics directly affect the operational capabilities we deliver to our customers and the overall performance of our fleet. Who We Are ICEYE is the world leader in sovereign intelligence from space. We deliver persistent monitoring capabilities to detect and respond to changes in any location on Earth. ICEYE owns the world's largest and most advanced SAR (synthetic aperture radar) satellite constellation. To our customers we provide intelligence with unmatched quality, latency and revisit times, in any weather, day or night. To governments who choose to operate their own constellation we provide this proven capability as a sovereign system. ICEYE-built constellations serve customers in defence and intelligence, environmental monitoring, insurance and emergency management. We enable fast decisions that contribute to a safer future. Founded and headquartered in Finland, ICEYE operates globally with over 1000 employees across Europe, North America, the Middle East, and Asia-Pacific. Your day-to-day responsibilities Design and develop embedded electronics hardware (schematic and layout) for mission-critical onboard systems, using Altium Designer and/or Mentor Graphics PADS. Design digital control and interface circuitry around microcontrollers and/or FPGAs, including sensor and actuator interfaces, protection circuits, and fault handling. Own the complete lifecycle of the hardware you create, from development and testing through handover to the missions team, and troubleshooting of in-orbit issues. Work closely with firmware, mechanical engineers, and systems engineers to define hardware interfaces and develop joint verification test cases. Take ownership of your electronics, including verification testing and writing documentation. Support on-orbit troubleshooting for hardware you have developed, as needed What we’re looking for Must haves: Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, physics, or another relevant discipline. 5+ years developing electronics (schematic and layout) using Altium Designer and/or Mentor Graphics PADS. Strong experience in digital and embedded control electronics, including microcontroller/FPGA interfacing (ADC, PWM, GPIO), sensor and actuator interfaces, and protection circuitry (overcurrent/overvoltage detection, fault handling, safe-state transitions). Experience designing serial communication hardware (e.g. I2C, SPI, UART, RS485, CAN), including proper isolation and protection. Working knowledge of high-speed and low-speed parallel interfaces relevant to embedded systems (e.g. JTAG, Ethernet, DDR/SRAM, Spacewire), as needed for the platforms you support. Ability to work closely with firmware engineers to define hardware interfaces and develop joint verification test cases. Nice to haves: Experience designing and testing high-reliability, safety-critical, and fault-tolerant systems. Experience with power electronics design supporting embedded control systems. Hardware debug experience, including familiarity with tools such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, protocol analyzers (SPI, CAN, Ethernet, or similar), and spectrum analyzers. Programming skills, including C/C++, Python, and MATLAB, for firmware integration or hardware characterization. Experience with revision control tools such as Git or SVN; comfortable working in Linux. Familiarity with high-speed SERDES interfaces (e.g. JESD204a/b/c) is a plus for engineers supporting higher-bandwidth payload electronics. Creative approach to problem solving, and ability to work effectively in a dynamic, fast-changing environment.
