Senior Email Marketing Manager (2)

We are building a high-volume, performance-driven newsletter portfolio and are looking for a Senior Email Marketing Manager to own newsletter growth, engagement, retention, deliverability, and monetization.
This role is for someone who sees email as a business and revenue channel—not just a publishing function. You will be responsible for growing and optimizing a portfolio of newsletters, ensuring every send reaches the inbox, engages subscribers, and drives measurable business results.
You will initially manage 7–10 newsletters, working closely with writers and designers to deliver best-in-class subscriber experiences. This is an individual contributor role with the opportunity to build and lead a team as the portfolio expands.

What You'll Do

Newsletter Growth & Performance

• Own engagement, retention, growth, and revenue across a portfolio of newsletters
• Optimize content, subject lines, layouts, CTAs, and subscriber journeys through testing and analysis
• Build retention and re-engagement programs to maximize subscriber lifetime value
• Monitor competitors and continuously identify opportunities to outperform them

Deliverability & List Management

• Own deliverability, sender reputation, inbox placement, and domain health
• Manage authentication, IP/domain warm-up, complaint monitoring, and deliverability troubleshooting
• Maintain list hygiene, segmentation, re-engagement programs, and subscriber quality standards

Monetization & Optimization

• Optimize newsletter advertising, sponsorships, and other revenue opportunities
• Run experiments across content, engagement mechanics, and monetization strategies
• Track and improve key metrics including engagement, retention, revenue per send, and revenue per subscriber

Operations & Collaboration

• Ensure all newsletters meet high standards for quality, accuracy, and consistency
• Collaborate closely with writers and designers to deliver best-in-class newsletters
• Build scalable processes, leverage AI tools, and provide performance insights and recommendations
• Support team growth and help establish best practices as the portfolio expands

What We're Looking For

Must-Have

• Significant hands-on experience managing high-volume email marketing or newsletter programs
• Proven success improving newsletter engagement, retention, growth, and performance metrics
• Strong understanding of email KPIs, including open rates, CTR, retention, conversions, and revenue
• Deep deliverability expertise, including authentication, inbox placement, sender reputation, and ISP-level monitoring
• Experience managing multiple newsletters or email programs simultaneously
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Excellent editorial judgment and attention to detail
• Experience using AI tools within marketing workflows
• Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities
• Excellent written and spoken English (C1+)

Nice to Have

• Experience with Substack, Ghost, or similar newsletter platforms
• Experience with newsletter advertising, sponsorships, or affiliate monetization
• Background in digital publishing or content-led growth
• Experience scaling media brands or newsletter portfolios
• Familiarity with list validation tools such as NeverBounce or ZeroBounce
