About the role

Are you passionate about asset information, infrastructure, and ensuring that critical business systems accurately reflect the assets that deliver essential services every day?

We're looking for a proactive and detail-oriented Senior Engineer Asset Records Technician to join our Asset Intelligence Department. This is a unique opportunity to combine real-world asset knowledge with data and system expertise, helping improve the quality, accuracy and value of asset information across Northumbrian Water.

As part of the Asset Systems Team, you'll play a key role in creating, maintaining and improving asset data within our asset information systems. Your work will help ensure asset information is accurate, complete and trusted, enabling informed operational, investment and regulatory decision-making throughout the asset lifecycle.

The role supports a diverse range of assets across operational and infrastructure environments, including treatment facilities, pumping assets, water distribution networks, wastewater collection networks and other linear infrastructure. You'll use your understanding of how these assets function and interact to ensure they are accurately represented within our corporate systems.

With significant volumes of new assets entering the business, you'll help maintain robust asset records and data standards while identifying opportunities to improve processes, data quality and efficiency. Working closely with engineering, operational, project and asset management teams, you'll ensure asset information remains aligned with business needs and industry best practice.

You'll also act as a trusted source of asset knowledge within the Asset Data function, supporting colleagues in translating real-world asset configurations into accurate digital records. Through coaching, guidance and knowledge sharing, you'll help build capability across the team and ensure assets are consistently represented within our enterprise systems.

You'll undertake site visits where required to validate asset information, investigate discrepancies and support data cleansing activities, ensuring information held within our systems accurately reflects assets in the field.

About you

We're looking for someone with a strong understanding of water industry assets and how they are represented within asset information systems. Your experience may have been gained through engineering, asset management, network operations, GIS, asset records, infrastructure management, enterprise asset management systems, or a similar asset-intensive environment.

You will have a sound understanding of how assets are structured, managed and maintained throughout their lifecycle, along with an appreciation of the importance of high-quality asset data in supporting operational, regulatory and investment decisions.

You'll be able to apply your practical asset knowledge to interpret asset configurations, understand asset relationships and ensure information is accurately represented within enterprise systems. You will also be comfortable supporting and mentoring colleagues, helping develop a consistent approach to asset information management across the wider Asset Data function.

You should be confident engaging with a range of stakeholders, including operational teams, project managers, engineers, asset owners and external partners, to deliver successful outcomes and drive improvements in asset information quality.

Ideally, you'll hold a BTEC, ONC, HNC or equivalent qualification in engineering, asset management, GIS, information management or a related discipline, although equivalent practical experience within an asset-intensive environment will also be considered.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are essential, together with the ability to interpret complex information and apply practical solutions to improve asset records and business processes.

The role requires confidence in using Microsoft applications, and knowledge of Enterprise Asset Management systems such as Maximo, GIS platforms and other asset information systems would be advantageous.

If you're passionate about assets, data and infrastructure, and enjoy translating real-world assets into high-quality digital records that support critical business decisions, we'd love to hear from you.

Please note this role will require a DBS to be completed prior to employment.
