Senior Engineering Manager

About the Role

Lead the health, delivery, and growth of an engineering pod building software for mortgage lending. This hands-on role combines people management and execution with regular coding, in close partnership with Product and technical leads.

What You'll Do

• Manage and support a pod of approximately 6 to 8 engineers through regular one-on-ones, feedback, performance reviews, hiring, and career development.

• Own planning, retrospectives, delivery health, and early communication of risks.

• Spend approximately 10 to 20% of your time coding and aim to ship 1 to 2 pull requests per week.

• Partner with Product Managers and technical leads on priorities, architecture, and cross-functional alignment.

• Support effective onboarding and maintain clear documentation and ownership boundaries.

What We're Looking For

• At least 8 years of software engineering or engineering management experience, with a progressive path from hands-on engineering into management.

• Substantial people management experience, including managing a team of 9 or more engineers and a pod with at least 5 direct reports, as well as hiring, performance management, and career growth.

• Recent experience shipping production software and actively coding in an engineering management role.

• Strong hands-on TypeScript skills, including backend experience, and familiarity with technologies such as Node.js, GraphQL, PostgreSQL, and AWS.

• Experience using AI tools in engineering workflows and familiarity with AI product development practices such as evaluations, experiment design, and dataset curation.

Compensation & Benefits

Annual salary range: $225,000 to $300,000 USD. Visa sponsorship is not available.
