- Guide technical direction by collaborating with architects and senior or principal engineers on design tradeoffs and implementation approach.
- Define and track engineering excellence metrics that fit the team context, such as delivery predictability, quality, and team health.
- Support adoption of AI-assisted development practices within the organization, including identifying practical ways to improve planning, delivery, and team effectiveness.
- Contribute to incident reviews and help translate root-cause findings into architecture and process improvements.
- Balance delivery commitments with management of technical debt, system reliability, and long-term maintainability.
- Apply AI tools and AI-enabled workflows to improve planning, delivery, and team effectiveness, and help others use them appropriately in day-to-day engineering work.
Additional Job Responsibilities
- Support onboarding and ramp-up for new team members and leaders.
- Represent the team in cross-functional planning, roadmap discussions, and dependency management.

- Review delivery risks and remove blockers that may affect team throughput or quality.
- Encourage consistency in engineering practices across teams while respecting team-specific context.
- Collaborate on capacity planning and staffing decisions as priorities shift.
- Promote a learning environment that supports experimentation, reflection, and continuous improvement.
- Contribute to documentation and process clarity where it improves execution and alignment.
