Senior Environmental Permitting Specialist

Play an integral role in Worley Consulting’s Environmental & Sustainability (E&S) team, helping clients navigate complex environmental permitting and regulatory requirements while advancing critical energy, chemicals and resources projects across the United States. You will combine technical expertise, strategic regulatory insight and strong client relationships to help move projects from early development through permitting, approvals and delivery.

Working across conventional and emerging energy markets, you will support projects spanning LNG, pipelines, refining, chemicals and resources, while contributing to growth in areas such as hydrogen, carbon management, biofuels and renewable power. This is an opportunity to influence project outcomes, strengthen long-term client partnerships and help grow Worley Consulting’s environmental permitting and regulatory capabilities.

Purpose of the role

As a Senior Environmental Permitting Specialist, you will provide technical leadership and strategic environmental and regulatory advice to clients pursuing complex energy and infrastructure projects.

You will lead and support environmental permitting and compliance activities, guide regulatory strategy, and collaborate with engineering, project delivery and environmental specialists to develop practical, defensible solutions that support project objectives.

Beyond technical delivery, you will serve as a trusted advisor to clients and stakeholders, contribute to business development and proposals, mentor developing professionals, and help position Worley for continued growth across both established and energy transition markets. Your work will directly support safe, complaint and sustainable project delivery while strengthening the quality and breadth of our E&S consulting services.

Location(s): This is a full-time, hybrid position based near a Worley U.S. office.

Preferred locations include:

We will also consider qualified candidates near other Worley U.S. office locations.

You will be responsible for:

  • Lead and deliver environmental permitting, regulatory and compliance solutions that support the development and execution of complex energy, chemicals and resources projects.
  • Develop practical permitting strategies that consider regulatory requirements, project schedules, technical constraints and client business objectives.
  • Lead and support air quality and environmental permitting deliverables, including stormwater management and Spill Prevention, Control and Countermeasure (SPCC) planning.
  • Guide environmental and social impact assessment activities under applicable regulatory frameworks, including NEPA, CEQA and FERC requirements.
  • Coordinate with multidisciplinary engineering, environmental, project management and operational teams to integrate environmental requirements into broader project planning and delivery.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to clients and engage directly with federal, state and local regulatory agencies and other project stakeholders.
  • Maintain high standards for technical quality, regulatory compliance and HSE performance while delivering projects and work packages within agreed scope, schedule and budget.
  • Support business growth through client development, opportunity identification, proposal development, scope definition, budgeting and cost estimation.
  • Contribute to strategic growth initiatives across established energy markets and emerging areas such as hydrogen, carbon capture and management, renewable power and biofuels.
  • Mentor and support developing professionals, encouraging strong technical judgment, collaboration, knowledge sharing and consistent quality across project teams.
