Senior ETL Developer - SAP Data Services

We are looking for a Senior ETL Developer specialized in SAP Data Services (BODS) to join our team and play a key role in a large-scale S/4HANA data migration project.

In this role, you will design and build complex data integration flows, ensuring high-quality, performant, and reliable data loads into the S/4HANA Migration Cockpit. You will be responsible for translating legacy data structures into clean, standardized models while applying best practices in data quality, performance tuning, and transformation logic.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop complex dataflows using a layered architecture (Raw, Silver/Staging, Gold), clearly separating raw extraction, transformation rules, and clean data loads
• Build robust transformation logic to convert flat legacy structures into normalized 1:N structures aligned with the S/4HANA data model
• Develop Custom Functions and scripts within SAP Data Services to support Data Quality routines, including string cleansing, special character handling, and document/tax ID formatting
• Configure and optimize target loaders, managing Bulk Load settings, rows per commit, and concurrency controls to prevent deadlocks and trigger errors in HANA Staging Tables
• Write optimized SQL leveraging SQL Pushdown techniques, ensuring that WHERE clauses and JOINs are executed at the source database level to maximize performance
• Implement deduplication and ranking logic to maintain data integrity (e.g., keeping the most recent record in cases of duplicate tax/fiscal keys)
• Consolidate multiple inclusion and exclusion business rules within extraction processes

Requirements

• 3+ years of proven experience with SAP Data Services (BODS)
• Strong experience building complex dataflows using layered architecture (Raw, Staging, Gold)
• Deep knowledge of native transformations, including Query, Merge, Validation, Case, and Pivot
• Ability to develop Custom Functions and scripts in the Data Services language for Data Quality routines
• Experience with load tuning and target configuration (Bulk Load, rows per commit, number of loaders, concurrency control) to avoid deadlocks and trigger issues in HANA
• Advanced SQL skills, including SQL Pushdown optimization to offload processing to the source database
• Expertise in deduplication and ranking logic using analytical functions (e.g., gen_row_num_by_group())
• Strong command of subqueries and set-based logic (EXISTS, IN, NOT IN) for consolidating complex business rules

Nice to have

• Hands-on experience with the SAP S/4HANA Migration Cockpit
• Familiarity with HANA database internals and performance optimization
• Experience handling region-specific data standards and tax identifiers (e.g., CPF/CNPJ or similar national IDs)
• Previous participation in large-scale SAP migration or data conversion projects
