About the role
The Regulatory Affairs team is responsible for obtaining all licences and permits and managing the regulatory interface for new nuclear. We are a core team that creates and implements the licensing and permitting strategy to ensure compliance with laws and regulations, manages the development of applications and regulatory submittals and makes sure all interaction with regulators and authorities is running smoothly. We actively follow and influence the latest national and international developments in legislation, regulations and regulatory practices.
We are now looking for an (Senior) Expert, Licensing. In this role you will focus on ensuring that nuclear licensing is progressing well and that the reactor technologies under consideration can be licensed in Sweden. You will have an exciting opportunity to take part in the development phase of a new nuclear project and to contribute to its success by ensuring that licences and approvals are obtained in a timely manner.
Your position in the organization is in the Regulatory Affairs team of New Nuclear business line, located in Solna, Sweden. However, regular travelling to other Fortum office locations and international destinations is to be expected.
Your main focus areas are:
- Contribute to developing, defining and implementing a licensing strategy that ensures compliance with the Swedish nuclear legislation and the associated decrees and regulatory requirements, especially with regards to nuclear safety
- Coordinate and oversee the liaison and interaction with Swedish Radiation Safety Authority (SSM) and other relevant authorities and ministries and support effective licensing process
- Develop application documents in close cooperation with cross-functional experts ensuring the compliance, completeness and accuracy of the applications and submittals
- Follow and influence the renewal of the nuclear energy legislation and regulations and the development of national and international practices in order to enable smooth implementation of the nuclear newbuild project
- Liaise and cooperate with vendors and suppliers to evaluate and ensure licensability of the potential plant technologies
- More detailed focus areas and assignments can be determined based on the applicant’s experience. In this role you will also coordinate and lead other experts in assignments.
About you
We expect you to have experience of the nuclear industry and knowhow and understanding of the Swedish regulatory requirements and their application to nuclear power plants. Experience in nuclear safety of nuclear power plants is an advantage. In order to be successful in this role, you need to have the capability for big picture thinking and a development-oriented mindset, but also be able to check and ensure correctness of details. It is important that you have good skills in managing your own work and that you are able to coordinate and steer other people in larger assignments.
Furthermore, you have a relevant education background and working with various different internal and external stakeholders should come naturally for you. You have good oral and written communication and language skills in both Swedish and English.
